" MEET AND PAINT "

This past Thursday, Sarah and myself went to a couple of our trade accounts to do stock checks and check our stock. At our first port of call in Maidstone Games we met John Lambshead, we had a great conversation and John has worked in many industries including wargaming, you can check out his blog where he has many great articles johns toy soldiers
Next we went to Rochester games and models and met up with Clint, which we had prearranged. On Clint's blog you'll see a very diverse hobby models as he not only paints for himself but several members of his club he attends. One of his projects has a lot of interest for me Diesel Punk, anyone who knows me, knows I have a large interest in vehicles, so shall watch this with much interest clint-anything but a one
Had a great time chatting to these guys, the drawback for me was the travel down has meant not being able to get much casting done since so I've tried to catch up on some painting, first up is three pieces for my cabinet when I go to shows
 Female Ceratid
Moretanite
Techno Ancient Grey
I've also managed to clear a little of my own stock pile, first up is a Brit Cit Judge, I've changed some of the colours from the comic, as I didn't like the blue lion shoulder pad
Next up is a Sov Judge, I found multiple different colour schemes for these so went for the one I liked
Next up is Grampus the leader of the Klegg mercenaries from the Cal wars, I've changed a couple of the colours used in the comic on this one as well
Last up I have Chopper and Johnny Cuba who battled each other at Super Surf 7, wanted to have the boards match the surfers rather than plain as shown in the comic
That's the lot for now, hopefully next time will have something new sculpting wise to show, so until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Smashing work all round Dave, particularly like the Judges, though Moretanite is pretty sharp too.

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, Got quite a few more Judge Dredd models to paint yet, and even more models to paint for the Death Match expansion game ( not to mention how many I've still got to sculpt ! LOL )

  3. Well Dave, you've been more productive with your shortened time frame than I have been in my whole week of doing nowt. I really should be ashamed of myself!

I really like the blue paint work on the Brit Judge and think the two surfers are brilliant. Is there rules for playing out such surf races? Chariot racing is fun, so I reckon sky surfing must be even better!

    1. Thank you Roy, was very much surprised with how much I managed to get done, but once I got into it the paint flowed well.
Not sure if there was rules for them but doing a surf comp would be cool

  4. Sweet posting, Dave, and having spoken to you myself in the past, I'm sure Clint and John thoroughly enjoyed themselves whilst in your excellent company. I think the Techno Ancient Grey is my fave of the bunch, is that going to be part of a larger range?

    1. Thank you Simon, meeting interesting people is one of the best parts of my job.
The greys will be part of a whole range including robots, undead drones and flesh constructs

  6. Cracking job on them all. I really like the Ancient Grey and the Surfers. I must scratch that flying model itch and get some witches or something.

    1. Thank you Simon, I know what you mean about flying models as I have so many flyers in different gaming systems and armies, not a lot of tanks though, perhaps I should have been an eagle ! LOL

  7. Nice to see the Techno Ancient painted up, as I was curious about what the exact colour scheme would be.

And I do have a soft spot for the BritCit Judges uniform, including the blue lion shoulder pads. Missed on on picking some of these up when they were released by Warlord, so can only hope that the new licence holder does them at some point.

    1. Thank you Jez, with the grey I wanted the main colour to be grey, but wanted to have other colours within it to add interest.
Like the uniform for the Brit Cit Judges, personal preference on the shoulder pad for me, which is the joy of this hobby there is no right or wrong. I'm hoping they release some models soon and if their taking requests I'd like some Pan African Judges please

  8. Its the Klegg for me, I could go three or four of these in a game no problem.. will you be doing a generic one too Dave? The Grey is really different from the way I painted my four. I like how you highlighted the ribs, almost like the skins translucent. Hmmm might have to go back t mine ad add that effect, it really makes a difference.

    1. Thank you Steve, Grampus is the only Klegg I have at the moment as it was part of my Xmas present from Sarah and the children, as they got me all the bits I wanted from Foundry when they announced they we're stopping selling them. Would like some more but will have to wait and see if Warlord produce some or build my own when time allows.
The Grey was an experiment to see what colours would look good with the basic grey tone, as I used a blue/grey blue, purple, and red worked well but I kept the red mostly for markings to stand out

    2. Ooooh sorry Dave I thought Grampus was one of yours, duh! Tasty model that isn`t it; and well done Sarah and the kids for that nice present. Yeah the Grey sure works well. I bought three off you but I snatched up a forth as well when I came visit. It was for the bin (a bad cast with no legs and half an arm missing) but hes now my deformed Grey leader. Love `em to bits hehe.
    3. No problem Steve, if i was sculpting Grampus I probably would have gone for a more dynamic pose. I guess I could make some gator men that people could use as Klegg proxies at some point.
Got an idea for a head grey model which I will reveal once sculpted, glad you enjoyed the ones you picked up
