" THE TWO HEADED MONSTER IN THE FLESH "

Before you go running for the hills, this is not me and Steve visiting a nudist colony... naaaa, just Steve coming to visit the Workshop, and discussing and planning where the skirmish game is going to head.. and what scenery we need to create for the upcoming game.. plus new models and what races we will feature in the initial release in April.

Was great to meet Steve in person and discuss so many elements that we needed to get right at this point to have a clear direction for these busy months ahead.

Steve was the perfect guest, and like a kid in a candy shop, when in the work areas (heard lot's of "oh that's so cool!").

"AND THE WINNER IS"

So what have I got for you all this week: first is the announcement of the winners of the last competition..... and......

...... the people's choice goes to Jez for his Nisari concept. Well done Jez. As part of his prize he will receive the three Nisari models I am already working on, he will also receive a gladiator of his choice, with his choice of weapons, which I will convert and paint for him personally; so it truly is a one of a kind prize.

The winner of the cupboards choice, this was very hard as there was so many great entries, we finally decided that Tarot's Creminisci was the winner, she will also receive the models of her creation and a gladiator of her choice converted and painted by me.

Well done to both winners and thank you to all who entered and supported with commenting on their choice.

"IT'S ALIVE!"

TheWIP

Now, since Simon came up with the idea of the two headed monster, I have been trying to come up with a way to incorporate this into the games: at 2 AM one morning it hit me! "Let's do a two headed commentator based on me and Steve." I thought. So I present to you a WIP shot of Gilly & Stave (Gilly after Steve`s surname Gilbert, and Stave as an amalgamation of Stone and Dave).

I just need to finish shaping their floating commentator box and add the four camera lenses then he will be ready for casting.

I will now pass you over to Steve for his half, until next time have fun !

Cheers Dave

)o(

And soooooo, what a roller coaster of a long week end. I got up just before six AM on the Friday (still pitch dark) while Hils fussed about me and making sure I hadn`t forgotten anything. Drove through the early morning to the airport (I love watching the dawn sun come up). Got to Cork, got my plane, and was with Dave at Bristol Airport around mid day... then a nice leisurely drive to Gloucester and BLAM!! the mini holiday was able to start proper.  I should point out that from the moment we met, the conversation never stopped and carried on that way from Friday right through Sunday and the moment we finally said our farewells (and Simon, yep, I finally met a guy who talks even more than I do, lol)Meeting the lovely Sarah was an extra bonus treat... wow, what an amazing woman and I finally got to meet the brain box (the original primogenitor) of the whole Death Match idea. Sarah created the whole game background and the alien monsters, now smartly written up into the rules world and galaxy system history.

Dave sorts me out some bits from the company van.

So I finally got to see Dave`s REAL modelling
first hand. What can I say... its stunning. Way cool in the flesh, and he`s got literally tons of finished models and entire armies of perfectly painted fantasy and sci-fi stuff.... including some of the best 28mm painting jobs I`ve ever seen. And an absolutely enviable collection of model vehicles, flyers, and space craft imaginable... all fully painted of course. But look about his games room (or take a visit to his real TWT workshop ) and you quickly come across the hundreds of wips, unpainted castings, and various `ideas in the making` this guy is working on. Ideas seem to flow from his brain and into his crafting hand like a diva running through an arpeggio.

Hils commissioned sci-fi cars, I was finally able to pick them up for her in their finished (painted by Dave) state and bring them back home with me.

Dave shows me his sculpted Dragon.

This winged dude is pretty darn awesome. A piece de resistance.

A most enjoyable three days, and we managed to get a heck of a lot of planning sorted out.. mostly for the new Skirmish game a compatiblesister game world to Death Match. So we have much work to do between now and next year  to make all our forward planning see fruition and reach a finished state. Course, Dave now has to sculpt and cast a ton of new stuff, and I almost pity the workload lying ahead of him.

Dave and Sarah were, of course, the perfect hosts
and I had the most amazing time at their cool home. My wallet travelled home a lot lighter... okay, empty hahaha due to all the cool stuff I brought.

My cool new Aztec Gate, mmmmmmm I absolutely love this piece.

And despite Dave`s endless generosity, I kind of
bought him out: surrounded by so many lovely temptations.. I found myself having to buy this, and this and this, and that, and.... so it went on. I really don`t know how I managed to bring my totally crammed case back through customs, without being stopped for overloading.

New vehicles for our post apoc games.

But the travel angel was with me that day, and
custom security staff kindly turned a blind eye to my obviously overloaded bags, and packages, and bundles and bulging pockets. I bought so much in fact, that Dave still has to post some of it on to me.. including one of his rather awesome 2` square (fully painted and textured) fibreglass battle boards. And I left him with a rather large and stunningly impressive sci-fi modular fortress commission, which I will pick up some time next year.

Yeah, I bought back a lot with me LOL.. lots of bags, each one crammed full of yet more miniatures.

Selfie.. .The Two Headed Monster. Excuse the red bleary Sunday Morning eyes: I was only just out of bed, wet eyed and  with the beginning stages of a flowing sneezy cold.

All in all, wow what a mega trip, and a well
overdue visit I look forward to making it again sometime... probably after Salute. Meantime I have to finish writing the new rules, play test the heck out of the thing, and assemble and paint like crazy, to get all these new hundreds of miniatures fully ready for the game **groans and he just keeps making more and more things for the game**

Just want to say a quick WELL DONE to the cool
winners of the double competition, and well deserved. It was no easy thing for us to have to pick the two winners.

Cheers guys

Steve

  1. Thanks for looking after him Dave and Sarah, he had a great time. He came back with a cold and is sneezing all over the place and looks like a bit like a dribble zombie.. way worse than in that post selfie LOL.

Love the Dragon its absolutely stunning; and I simply adore my new cars. Thank you very much Dave :-)

    1. No problem Hils he was the perfect guest, sorry I sent him home with a cold though.
thank you for the compliment on the dragon, and you are most welcome on the cars

    2. The cars are Waaaayyyyyy better than I even imagined, and I`m highly appreciative that you took time to paint my `commission` for me. Was well worth the wait for himself to pick them up for me when he came over. I`m delighted.
    3. No problem Hils just got to finish the conversion on your beetle then will send that one to you as well, although Steve has probably told you there are some more development

    4. Yes Dave, it all sounds so very exciting and rather adventurous (in a totally good way). I`m just so luckily privileged to be able to see it all come together.. what you guys are doing is awesome, and I have a front row seat.

The beetle, yes I had almost forgotten. But now I remember again, I`m rather excited at that too. The ones I have from you already are sublime and once the last one is in place, there will be no stopping me. I have big plans for the next new game/campaign I want to start, did himself tell you about it? I`ll launch it as soon as the pieces I need are all painted. I`m just not sure where to article it, normally I`d do it here, but I could write reams on our new project (me and T) and don`t want to take away focus from what you guys are doing, so I dunno. Maybe I`ll just play these through without writing them up at all.
    5. I think you should definitely post it in here, as we don't want to be a one trick pony. Diversity always brings something new to the table

    6. hmmmmm, interesting. Okay then I guess that means we can expect a new sandbox some time soon, hopefully kick it off with a Christmas special, and then keep adding to it from time to time.
    7. Sounds good to me, and gives visitors to the cupboard a variety of things to read

  2. Super posting, and looks like you guys had an absolute blast, judging how knackered you both look in that selfie >>grins wickedly<< All the models I see in the background (yes I did blow the photos up to try zoom in on as much as I could LOL) are intriguing me, and as for the Dragon, shoot me, that`s a beast and a real beaut`. This is yet another very cool post from the wild antics of Gilly and Stave.

    1. Thank's Dave, we had a blast, it was a early start after a late night on the Sunday morning to get Steve to the airport in time.
There is a lot to see in the photos, some for DM and the skirmish game and some for other projects.
Must admit enjoying building dragons, already planning next years

  4. Yes I couldn't agree more, very remiss of me not to have mentioned it either. Congratz Jez and Tarot for a mighty and well deserved win. Couldn't have been easy for the judges, but I think they picked well.

  7. Great to see the two-headed monster together, and what a stonkingly great sculpt that looks as well!! Hopefully, as a member of the Triad I'll be getting first dibs on buying one of its initial castings, Dave? Will the hinged jaws come separately so you duplicate the incessant nattering which must have taken place with the pair of you together at the same time :-)

    1. Cheers Simon, he will indeed be on preorder soon, the jaws will have to be wired shut, otherwise you would never hear anything else ! ROFL

    2. Ooh yes, I`d forgotten the Triad. I guess that DOES count for dibs then, hey what Dave hehe?

Hey Simon wanna know something.... he talks MORE than me, yep its true.

  8. **blows her night club whistle while doing the disco shimmy**

    **squeals with delight**

This is why I think you guys are so adorable, you never seem to tire of finding ways to make me smile happily. I`m so glad Mr Stevie got to fly over and meet you (he rarely flies anywhere let alone likes to leave his home, so he must REALLY have wanted to visit, to go all that way). I bet you both set new records for talking stamina hehe, and did you get to game much, I bet you did? Jealous boots here would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for THAT mammoth meeting of minds.

The dragon Mr Dave, let me tell you, is beyond lovely. It's one of those very rare pieces that almost sings to you, pulls at the heart and makes you believe there is still just a little bit of magic left in the world. I was stunned and the photos completely took my breath away.

I must hurry home now (I still think of Hil and Stevie`s place as my second home) for December and start to... urm..... help paint all these packets of new loveliness, mmmmmm, pleeeessse.

Truly love post, and oh wow you guys, I`m so delightedly honoured. THANK YOU for such a precious thing to win. I will write privately to you and talk about that some more Mr Dave. and WELL DONE Jez sweetie, I`m simply delighted for you.

    Bless you all

    1. Thank's Tarot, in most conversations there is a pregnant pause from time to time, we didn't have one from the time I picked Steve up until I dropped him off ! LOL
Glad you like my little dragon, out all the ones I've done he is my joint favourite.
I'm sure Steve would love some help with all he took home.
No problem I look forward to your email

    2. Roger that. T you know I love your help anytime, especially knowing your skill with the brush.

Dave, that was an amazing break, and thanks mate, for everything :-)))))
    3. *big hug to Sarah*
    4. Your most welcome mate, will pass the hug along for you

  9. Apparently celebrating by dancing on you desk at work constitutes a Health and Safety risk and I was adked politely to get down...and then wtestled to the floor when I said "No."

    Some people... *sigh*

Sounds like a wonderful trip, which probably left you both weary but satisfied.

Thanks to all who voted for my creation and thanks to Dave and Stevie for creating such a wonderful competition to start with. Hold on...THREE figures?! Gosh...that is so cool. Plus a converted Gladiator of my choice AND my prize from the previous competition. I shall call this 'birthday number 2'.

Actually, I'm happy to have everything posted together, to save on postage, so no neex to send out my cat-kin separately.

Now I just have to decide which gladiator I'd like...hmmm

And massive congratulations to Tarot too. I love her Creminisci (although I keep mentally adding 'crispy' in front of their name...lol) and will definitely be buying some when they ate released. I did speculate on clothing and weaponry with her for them and it will be interesting to see if the finished results match the pictures in my head.

Now, as the Desk Police have gone, back up I go! And...dance! 🤗

    1. Those pesky desk police ! LOL
As you may have noticed I tend to do a male and female version of each creation, but your creation inspired a third which is the priestess of the Nisari who milks the dust vypers for their venom to give to the disciples.
Glad you said you'd like all your prizes together as I was posting the cat kin tomorrow.
It shall be interesting as you say to see if the final rendition of the Creminisci match your ideas, only time will tell !
Party on Garth, Party on Wayne !

    2. I`ve seen the Nisari Priestess first hand, Jez... its the best WIP miniature I`ve ever seen Dave do. I`m in awe of it.
  10. Dancing within your work space AND on desk should be made compulsory. When I get to power I will make it so, and eating cream cakes every day with a Y in it (cheese cake as an optional choice) and lashings of tea or coffee every hour on the hour.

Wonderful win Jez, I`m so happy for you, and so well deserved: The background material for your creation was marvelous. Oh and Jez, `yes` to your private mail question, anytime *smiles*

    1. Thank's Michael, there is many levels to my desk, with the front being current, mid being if I have time and the back being when the muse descends, but they may move depending on what's needed, also the scenery side is separate.

    2. Awwww thanks Michael *sniffles and sneezes* but hey, it was easily worth catching a cold at the dratted airport, for the sheer fun we had :-)) As for the haul, heck I got to get it all painted now.. but oh I will, I will, and soon too ^^
  12. Congrats to the winners, we’ll deserved. What a meeting of minds that must have been, shame to have missed it, although I look forward to seeing the results soon enough!

    2. Blimey...I didn't realise there were quite so many - I've only seen the first three. However, I have read the Marshal Law/Hellraiser crossover "Law in Hell", owned and played the Kult RPG which was kind of inspired by the movies and introduced the Lament Configuration into a Paranoua game (which didn't end well), so can still be considered a fan. Right, Dave?
    3. Definitely a fan, only 5 of the films were released in the uk the other 4 I had to get shipped in from the us. So we are both fans, do you like the other Clive Barker adaptations like Nightbreed ?

    4. Read 'Cabal' which it was based on first, then saw the movie, bought the background art book and had a dozen or so issues of the ongoing comic series...so I'd say that was a yes... 😉
