UNDER COVER

 Got tired of waiting to find my material, and ended up ordering some more, and would you believe, 3 days after the new material arriving , I found my old supply ! LOL So below you will see the newly added canopies for two of the stalls, and the Gorg stall next to them.

I've also added some beds on the damaged building on the first floor, will probably add some bags and bits as well, to help add some story. The beds are the ones I made for Michael Awdry for his Schoss Itter project he did back in2020 on his blog 28mmvictorianwarfare

Now for anyone that wants to know how to do the canopies here's a step by step guide

STEP 1 Build a frame for your canopy to sit on, this is a mix of plastic rod, and metal pins.

STEP 2 Attach the start of the cloth to the top of the frame, I use superglue for this step, as it's fast acting.

STEP 3 Paint PVA glue over the first section, to get the curve you want in the fabric

STEP 4 Attach the cloth to the next former, and then repeat the PVA glue on the next section.

STEP 5 Keep repeating Step 4 until all the sections are done, then leave to dry fully before painting. also any lose fibres can be cut off when dry, don't try pulling them off before as you'll just unravel the cloth.

As you can see very simple, but looks very effective, you can do the same process for banners on models as well, but would suggest  a former shape to rest the banner on, as otherwise you need to keep moving it while it dries. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

IT'S TURBO TIME

 No I've not started a power rangers project, but have actually finished my Turbo Tank, that I started at the beginning of the scenery challenge, it certainly helped having my new work area to be able to get it finished. The three guns on the main cab are secured with magnets, the rear gun is on a large pin, all the wheels are glued in place, I could have made them rotate, but it seemed a lot of extra work for something that wouldn't make a massive difference to the model. As you may have seen with the work in progress pictures I've used plasticard 1 mm and 0.5 mm thickness for different plating, there is a lot of greenstuff parts, plus I've used some plastic rod on the original 3D filament print to get the final look I've achieved.

Below are some close ups of some of the areas.

Painting wise I used a mix of brush, sponge, paint, washes, and some drybrushing for the dust/dirt on the wheels and lower half of the vehicle. I also used a fineline pen to add some construction lines that I wasn't able to put in with the construction methods. I also used paint to add in some of the cabling lines I could see in the reference, here is a recap of what I was working from.

Very happy with what I ended up with, and with the weathering being a orange brown color it will work for both the basing on my clone wars era, and the basing on the new hope era models, so the I can use the vehicle for both. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

NOT SO INCEY WINCEY

Today I've finished the Void Spider tx-3 that was seen outside the cantina in Mos Eisley, even if it was only for a couple of seconds in the movie both original and extended version. The model is made from plasticard, foamcore, plasticrod, brass rod and lots of greenstuff, plus a filimant print dome that was originally from the Turbo Tank. If anyone want's to know specifics, please ask as I will be happy to share to help with your projects.

Painting wise I've tried to match the reference photo, the top half was surprisingly clean in the reference, which I was surprised by, but went with the reference for accuracy, even though being a taxi, I would expect it to e dirty and grimy. Below is the reference picture as a reminder.

Very happy to finally have this one done to complete outside the cantina, just need to do the incidental crates and bits, plus a big crashed ship, but that will be a project for another time ! LOL That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

DON'T COME BACK WITHOUT AT LEAST ONE MEILOORUN !

 For the next stall I've created a fruit vendor set up, for reference I looked at the fruit seller in the Phantom Menace, and also the frit seller that you see in the Mandalorian series, to get the original feel, but also the diverse fruit from the later one.

These were all made from a mix of plastic rod, and greenstuff, painting wise I tried to match to the reference on both the stands and the fruit, below is the reference I used to make these.

Still haven't come across the cotton material for making the awnings, so that will be a job for another time. I've got reference pictures for the next three stands now, being Droid parts, small creatures for sale, and riding beasts for rent, but they make take some time to do. SNUG AS A BUG IN A RUG

Continuing on with Market street, this week I've finished the rug displays to go in the front of the ruined building. I would have liked to get the canopy done at the same time, but as yet still can't find where my cotton material for doing them has gone, with everything being out of my room at the moment ! LOL Hopefully soon, then I can get on with a lot of unfinished bits, plus photograph with proper backgrounds.

The stands were made from balsa wood, and the rolled up rugs were plastic rod, with a layer of greenstuff over them, with texture added. The texture comes from the reverse side of a piece of leatherette, shown below.

The opened rug, was a piece of greenstuff rolled out, and textured with a piece of breeze block which has a great airated texture

So what's the grand plan with all these bits, this !

No not the entire city, I know I'm mad, but I'm not criminally insane ! LOL No I want to be able to do sections of the city, so if you look top right you can see the cantina, and it's surrounding streets, or you have the large grey Imperial compound, that would be bigger than a 6 foot by 4 foot board. Then you have the rusty rebel transporter and surrounding streets on the left, and I've already done the transporter. Ideally I would like to be able to have all the sections, but storing that would be insane, so having bits I can use again and again, with some characterful pieces will do. So this should keep me busy for quite some time ! LOL

WHAT'S A GORG

In my recent Market Street post, Roger asked what a Gorg was, as I said I was planning on doing a Gorg Stall, at the time I said they were a type of Amphibian /lizard, but I've done a bit more research and can confirm they are in fact an Amphibian. They come in multiple different types, and a lot of them are actually native to Tatooine, which would fit as the planet was once covered in water. Some species come from Naboo, and are imported in, which will make those more expensive, as will the rare species. Their main predator are Worrts (the creature outside Jabba's Palace, that belched).

So now we know what they are, here is my stall, the design of the stall has elements of Graga's the Gorg Monger, but I've changed bits as well, to suit my gaming, the main construct was made with plasticard, and plastic rod, the cutting board is a piece of balsa, and the fan on the top was made from plastic strip, and a bit of greenstuff.

The sign on the front say's no Gungans in Aurebesh, and yes I purposely misspelt it, as they may not know how to spell it ! LOL

WHAT A WEEK

 Well this week has been a total rollercoaster ride, with lots of ups and downs , so let's clear the downs out of the way, as with the warm weather my daughters car, suddenly started going through a lot of water, so thinking sensibly she asked the best thing to do, listened and has been checking every journey. Now you may be thinking why not take it straight to a garage, well before I could phone to book it in, my wife's car stopped working, and couldn't get that in until today, and all because of a mistake and overfill on oil, and being one of these new fangled cars that has a sensor for everything, has cut all power ! Hopefully will get it back soon, then can get my daughters car booked in. This ment a lot of phone calls and stopped any progress on fun stuff, ah well. On top of that, the plasterer called, and said I don't suppose I can come over two days earlier, due to a double book on another job, where the contractor booked a concrete floor for the same time as plastering ! LOL this ment having to finish the last prep jobs being crammed into a day, to be ready in time, which has caused a Fibro flare up of epic proportions, but my studio, is finally starting to look like a real room !

Next week hopefully we can get it painted ,and move the carpet delivery forward, so I can start moving things back in, and using my room again.

Now good news was I got scan results back, and my treatment has reduced fluid build up in my lung even further, without having to be manually drained, which is great, the lining this time was no different, so being positive means it hasn't increased in size. Next week I will be having X-rays of both hands in the hopes we can find what's wrong there.

MARKET STREET

 Around the back of the cantina in Mos Eisley in the detailed exposed diagram, there showed a shop which I made some time ago when I built the cantina, but it also showed some market stalls that you can see in this expanded picture.

Currently I'm trying to find the cloth I use to make my awnings, but in the mean time I thought I would start with the ruined building you see in the bottom right hand side of the picture. The main construction is foamboard, with a light smear of wall filler to add texture. The exposed dome framework was made from plastic strip.

Below is a close up of the wanted posters I used on this building.

I thought these would be very fitting for behind the cantina ! LOL Painting was very simple on this so was relatively quick. While I wait to make the awning at the front I've decided this will be a rug vendor, the square building at the back of the cantina will be clothes. The next two vendors will be fruit and Gorgs, and the two awnings attached to the cantina itself will be jewelry and creatures, so that should give me plenty to keep me busy, and if not there is always the front of the cantina to consider ! LOL
