NUMBER OF THE BEAST

Today is my 666 th post, as I don't have any demons to paint you'll have to put up with some of my regular models. First today is the Librarian Consul from the Horus Heresy range, which I've painted up for my Night Hawk chapter. The model has a lot of extra detail on it, so I'm thinking he will be the next in line to be Chief Librarian, and maybe a title like the keeper of the knowledge, as he carries several books, the Epistolery symbol on his shoulder was a bit of freehand, as were the red markings on the robes.

Next is the MK IV Tech Marine also from the Horus Heresy range, for the chapter symbol I didn't sculpt on the shoulder pad, as I liked the lines so freehanded the symbol, which I haven't done on a shoulder pad for a long time.

Last on the painting list today is the Saurus banner bearer, I've kept to my normal color scheme but increased the red areas which are the mark of Sotek to show he was marked for greatness.

I've also been busy putting together more models to paint, I've finished the rest of the second Rebel squad, I've done 5 as Mon Calamari, the two humans I've used spare heads from the multipart Rebel command models I got for my birthday, the last of the Rebel starter box was another Luke Skywalker, as I already have 3 of him, I've put him together for a Rebel Kallus model, I won't be doing any more on him until Forgotten Heroes later in the year. As the Rebel box is now all constructed, I've started the Imperial box, first up was Vader, where I'm actually going to have his light sabre retracted, and got the first 5 Stormtroopers constructed.

That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

SLITHER ME HISS

In a vain hope of clearing some space on the painting desk, I've finally finished up some swarm bases for my Lizardmen army, most are snake bases, but I did manage to make up a complete lizard base as well.

I based the colours on the Cayman Lizard, just made the colours a bit bolder, here is a reference picture of the real one.

Below I've split the snake bases in to two pictures to better show them off.

AS you can see there are many different types of snake on there, and here is some of the reference pictures I based them off, I went for snakes that were indigenous to South America .

You may notice cobra's on the bases and think aren't they from Asia and you'd be right, so to add variety I tried to find different colour schemes for them, below is the reference.

That's all for today, hopefully I can clear some more space on the desk, as long as I don't keep adding new projects, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !

THREE'S A CROWD

While I've been busy trying to finish the last of my Christmas presents, I have finished off a set of three models that have been sat on my desk for far too long, the herders for my Salamander. The models were originally the second edition herders that were updated with greenstuff to look more like the current versions.

Below is the GW latest version, I had to change the weapons to match the current ones, and also add the backplates to bring them inline. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

I NEED A BREAK

Don't panic I'm not talking about blogging, or even life ( although if the universe would like to stop throwing me curve balls to sort out I wouldn't mind ! LOL), no I mean I needed a break form the cantina, as I didn't want to get to a point where I was just going through the motions, and it wouldn't be up to my normal standard. The first distraction was one I needed to get done before my son went to University, a display base for his Axolotl, now knowing my son wanted to get the other two models in the range I've made it with the space for the next two included.

I've added magnets, and magnetic strips to help hold the models in place, for transporting, below is a picture of the base without the models so it's easier to see all the bits I've added for decoration.

Now the next two models are just because I wanted to, and it's two versions of the Salamander for my Lizardmen army. This first one is the original model that GW released, which I still like, and reminds me of a Dimetrodon, which was always one of my favourite prehistoric creatures. I found the colour scheme from the reference I've included below.

This next one was the second version GW released, I liked it a lot less, but at the time I worked for GW, and if I wanted to use one instore it needed to be the current version, For the colour scheme I went with a water Dragon, also known as a Sailfin lizard.

As GW have now released a third version and is now called the Spawn of Chotek, I'm going to use the first version which is similar, and the second version will be added to my wandering encounter creatures for multiple games (Fantasy and Sci-Fi). Below is what the current version looks like.

If I want to add a second one  to my army, it will work okay with my version 1. That's all for this post, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

SKINKS GALORE

To clear a bit of space on my desk I've finished my squad of Skink skirmishers ( hence the round bases), these are expensive skirmishers as I gave them javelins instead of blowpipes, as they have better range and strength, at some point I need to make a regiment of them as well, but that will have to wait until I get some more models, as these are the last of the Lizardmen models I currently have.

The box comes with 24 models, but I used a champion model that I converted from the Stegadon set to bring it up to 25 models. At some point I expect GW to change the names of these as a Skink is a real lizard, and so they can not copyrite it, but we'll have to see what they do, hopefully next time I'll have some bits to set up one of my Monster May(hem) entries, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !
