" FORGOTTEN HEROES UPDATE "

Firstly apologies to anyone I was late on commenting on your blog posts, the last 3 days were quite extreme as I moved my eldest daughter from Plymouth to Dublin. She has just finished her degree in animation and before getting her results got recruited by an animation company in Dublin, we've literally had four weeks to organise and get her moved. We are so immensely proud of what she has achieved.
So while trying to recover today I have managed to finish two more of my project, first up is Mongrol, this was quite a challenging colour scheme until I went into GW today and spotted the perfect colour needed.

Have also finished Happy Shrapnel, this one was challenging being mostly silver so I added some blue wash for shade, and blue glaze for mid tones to help break up all the silver.

Hopefully will find time to finish the last couple before the end of the month, but have a lot of actual work to do at the moment so will have to see.
Until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Marvellous stuff Dave, what a corking project this has been. Thoroughly enjoying it - you'll have to do "Forgotten Heroes" project every month from now on ;-)

    1. Thank you Simon, it has been fun. Funny you should say about doing it every month as I'm hoping to continue this project but slow up a bit and do one a month until I've finished all the Warriors and the Blitzspear

  2. Really good paint jobs, Dave. I would very much hope that you will continue this project once the Forgotten Heroes deadline has passed. Now that you've started them it makes sense to finish them. One per month seems like an achievable target.

    1. Thank you Bryan, didn't want to overload myself and burn out before finishing the project, plus I really want to get back on with my Star Wars project that hasn't got that much attention this month, plus I ought to put some effort into business pieces as well

Excellent brushwork on these characters and I applaud your plan to finish them all - it promises to be an awesome collection :-)

    1. Thank you Greg, I'm very proud of her and all she's overcome to achieve this.
It seemed silly to leave the project unfinished, as I've wanted to do this for a very long time

  4. Mongrol looks perfect Dave. Spot on with colours and perspective.

Might there be a MekQuake addition in the future?

    1. Thank you Dai, Mongrol was the one that really needed a decent model as he's only had one done in this scale, which I wasn't a fan of.
There will definitely be a Mek Quake done in the coming months,at least a walking version, maybe further down the line I will do the vehicle version

  6. Smashing! absolutely smashing job on Mongrol, that is a brilliant rendition of one of my all time favourite comic characters, Happy looks great to love the flag on his back (surprised Simon didn't mention it, he usually has to comment on stripes! ;-) ).

A Blitzspear! you don't do things by half do you, and I'm now salivating at the thought of Mek_Quake in vehicle form (as he should be IMHO).

Congratulations to your daughter too, working in animation, lucky girl I'd love that!

Cheers Roger. Will re-post soon, just got to check round all the other entrants sites.

    1. Thank you Roger, glad I could do justice to Mongrol as he's your favourite, it's always a tough one when someone likes a character to get it right. Happy's flag was me trying to push my freehand painting as it's not something I do a lot of at the moment.
The Blitzspear and vehicle Mek Quake is to keep my OCD in balance, and think it is now within my skill set.
When she said she was going to do animation I was hoping for a mini film of Death Match, but she went into a different style, so will have to wait on that one, but still very proud of her.

    1. Thank you Andy, was pleased with the end result of Mongrol as he's such a daunting model.
Was the best result I could have hoped for as a parent, getting a job before her results, hope your daughter has the same success

  8. Pass on my congratulations to your daughter, Dave. Not only a brilliant opportunity, but in a lovely city too!

And you're really excelling yourself with these figures. Hoping to see a group shot at the end of the month, just to get a sense of scale between the individual models...plus it will look cool.

    1. Thank you Jez, and I will pass it on mate.
Will definitely do a group shot at the end of the month, as I would like to have Morigunn, Nemesis, and Blackblood finished as well, but will have to see what time allows this week
