" A REBEL, A DRONE, AND A CAT WALK INTO A BAR "

Not really but couldn't think of a better title ! LOL
First up today is Sabine Wren, a character from Star Wars Rebels and a member of the Ghost crew. Originally from Mandolor and the daughter of one of the ruling houses on the planet. She is an expert in demolition and likes to graffiti paint to help relax.
This was one of the more challenging models to paint, as she has so much decoration on her armour, hopefully I've done it justice.

Next up is a Sentry Drone from the " Heart of the Empire" expansion, when I first thought about painting these I was going to do a simple silver colour scheme as they reminded me of the old Cylons in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, on a whim I found they had actually appeared in one of the cartoon series from a Google search, I'd just forgotten them, so this is my test piece.

Last up today is some Loth Cats, these appear in Star Wars Rebels on the planet Lothal, and come in the expansion " Tyrants of Lothal". I've done a varied patterning and colours to add variation and included the pure white one that helps guide Ezra on his Jedi journey.

That's the lot for today so until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Excellent paint jobs on all of these, Dave. As a cat lover I particularly like those Loth Cats.

    1. Thank you Bryan, they were certainly a challenge to get variation on them

  2. Really nice work, even if I didn't recognise any of them!!

That drone though it particularly nicely done, and as Bryan said we do love a cat!

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, as I know a lot of the followers on here don’t know much about rebel’s and IA I’ve tried to give more information and reference pictures to help.
Glad you like the drone and cats

  3. The lassie in the graffitied armour looks pretty stunning. A very original look, :)

    1. Thank you John, was a tricky scheme, but didn't want it to become a model sat on a shelf waiting for me to pluck up the courage to paint it.

  4. Sabine is probably my favourite character from the show Dave, you`ve done her miniature justice :-)

    1. Thank you Steve, I went for the last colour scheme for her to match the other characters

    2. Ah that's it then. I thought you had applied artist`s licence and created your own look (which suited exactly her style and mode of dress and cool graffiti customisation). I`ve not seen the new season 4 yet and really must add it to my wish list.
    3. She has two variations in the last series, and a new weapon as well, so watch out for that one. but her hair colour is the same through the season. The fact that she changed season to season added to the depth of her character, and I did enjoy all the reveals for each of the characters through the seasons for the characters.

  5. Agreed, she has (I think) the richest background of them all, and I love how the series creation artists kept adding variations on a theme, colour, and especially hair changes to represent/display her character growth and changing beliefs. Did you know Sarah Michele Gellar was originally meant to have done the voice of Sabine but she cost too much, so was given the part of Seventh Sister instead, because it is a much smaller part. If Buffy had played Sabine I wonder if the character would have been more intense or worse?

    Interesting thought init?

    1. I think the actress they got made the part her own, and added to the character. Ms Geller wouldn't have added anything extra for me, and would have distracted from the character as everyone would be associating her with Buffy, just my opinion ! LOL

    2. Nope, I think you are dead right on that one Dave. A well put argument :)
    3. Heard it too much in my time when running a DVD store, can't get past he/she was . . . . in . . . . and completely spoilt the movie ! LOL I guess were creatures of habit and it sometimes hard to look past our own assumptions

  6. ...and that`s true too. End of the day, this show is cast just right as it is (except Ezra who, in my own humble opinion is the typical *yawn yawn* spoiled, arrogant `can do no wrong` brat Walt Disney pull out as the archetypal all American golden eyed boy people all seem to love: aka Aladdin, Sinbad, Prince Charming, or any of those other clones you care to mention LOL).

    1. Very true, he was more likeable in the early series, but did become more of a bratly in the later ones, and didn't learn from his mistakes just kept repeating them !

  8. It's a shame they didn't sculpt Sabine with her helmet on as she always seemed to be wearing it when stuff was going down in the cartoon. Still, good work on the paint job - those markings look like a right pain to add on.

Loth Cats are SO DAMN CUTE!!! I almost spent a small fortune on a Con Exclusive plush one last year....

    1. Thank you Dai, yes would love a version of her with the helmet as well, the graffiti was difficult but worth the challenge.
The Loth cats are fun I liked the wolves a bit more

  9. Great work here, Dave. I still haven't picked up the IA expansion sets with Sabine in them yet - but I'm still working my way through a pile of other stuff, so perhaps it's for the best right now!

    2. I'll still pick it up as soon as I get a chance (which might not be until January with this being such an expensive month!) Then I can always mix and match painting the models out of it as I have with the other sets.
    3. Sounds like a plan, and fully understand about December! lol
