" FORGOTTEN HEROES PART 2 "

Today I have a progress report on my forgotten heroes project, first up is Hitaki you will see he is mostly finished on the sculpt, just needs some final details and clean ups and then onto painting.

Madd Ronn is also almost finished and just needs some finishing details and clean ups

Happy Shrapnel is progressing well, need to finish the back of his head, make his two pistols, and a few more details are required.

Last of the four Morrigunn, as you can see she is the least completed so far, this is due to having to build her up in lots of layers, but any progress is good progress.

As I have almost finished the build part for the four I intended to enter into this years challenge, I have started two more, Blackblood on the left, and Mongrel on the right. I know Roger was keen on me attempting this one and should keep me busy up until the end of the challenge, but you never know I may end up making a couple more yet.

Until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Wow, Dave, you are on a roll! These are progressing really well and I'm looking forward to seeing them completed. I'm especially pleased you're making a Mongrol. MONGROL SMUSH!

    1. Thank you Bryan, they've been fun so far. Mongrol is such an iconic piece but wasn't very impressed with the one from the Kickstarter, so hopefully I can do better

  2. Lovely job Dave, it is great to see their evolution to finished sculpt. Do you use standard green stuff or is there a special brand?

    1. Thank you Michael, I use standard green stuff that I get from Sylmasta.com I have recently bought some magic sculp as well to try as you can mix this in with standard green for smoother blends as well

    2. I am even more impressed now, every time I try and use the stuff it ends up stick to my fingers. I have tried water, but I think I just need more practice.
    3. I keep the green in my palm of my hand that's holding the model, I find the warmth stops it sticking too much, and also keeping it moving helps as well

  3. Inspirational stuff, Dave. Simply breath-taking stuff - I’m in awe of the detail you get on these sculpts of yours. Love these WIP postings of yours - pity they can’t be daily ;-)

    1. Thank you Simon, do like to push the details where possible, certain models I make for my ranges I keep the extra's to a minimum so they are easier to convert for people, but a project like this you can really go to town on.
As for daily posts I would not have enough time to work if I did that ! LOL

  4. I.impressive stuff, Dave. You can really tell this is a project that's close to your heart, as the detail on each model is spot-on. I'm looking forward to seeing your interoretation of Nemesis.

    1. Thank you Jez, Ronn was a tricky one to do as there was no clear pictures of him, so had to piece him together from lots of pictures.
Having to restart Nemesis as the first one I built ended up too big, but should hopefully start him again soon

    1. Thank you Simon, luckily all of these won't be available because of copyrite protection so temptation removed ! LOL some may say boo though

  6. Great stuff Dave! and so quick too, love all of them, but as you said, Mongrol is my all time fav, good to see that you are doing him with the tapered body and longer legs rather than the later "ball" with two tiny sticks and rectangular plate feet!

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, yes using Clint Langley's art for Mongrol, as his makes sense, normal size legs from one robot, torso from a larger robot, and arms from something really big ! Always thought it would be cool to see the actual robots the bits came from

    2. You are so right! re-posted to the FH site by the way.

      Cheers Roger.
  7. Very, very, VERY impressive Dave. In several of ways too - the detailing on the 'almost complete' sculpts, the variety (and insight) seeing the various stages of the work, and the sheer number of models you're turning out!
    Bravo sir :-)

    1. Thank you Greg, it's good to show different stages rather than just here's another finished model, I think it gives an insight into the sculpting process, of which I'm always happy to share information on

  8. Impressive work Dave. I'm gawd awful with GS outside of gap-filling and the tiny addition of say, a moustache, pouch or some such. Always blown away when I see online chaps like your good self showing off full blown minis sculpted from scratch.

    1. Thank you Dai, practice and the willingness to experiment is the biggest step with greenstuff, also watch some tutorials or go on courses if possible. In the process of sorting out a course with Journeyman miniatures
