NOT MY FAULT !

The model today is really Roger's fault, which means the delay on getting my first Monster May(hem) post up is also his fault ! LOL The other week when I showed Jaxxon, Roger said was I going to do Amaiza, which was one of the others in the group, that Jaxxon was constantly trying to chat up, now before you see her, you have to remember it was 1977 and Marvel were renowned for not covering the ladies in proper attire.

As you can see high heel boots, short shorts and bra isn't really going to do much in the order of protection ! LOL

I have actually been working on some monsters, I've got 3 of the 5 claws finished sculpting on the Gnarloc's so hopefully they should be finished soon, the monsters I've ordered should arrive mid month, hopefully I have enough time to paint them. I have however finally finished sculpting a Gigan Brute, this has been in the background for the last two years, with the odd bit of work every now and then.

The premise I had was in the Alien franchise they keep using humans as the basis, but when you take away a humans weapons we don't fair well against predators, so this is based off a alien ape.

I've also started on a vegetation creature, I guess you could use it as a shambling mound or Fen Beast, this is going to be a swamp beast in my games, a creature that is made of vegetation, and as it walks around it picks up seed and spores which start to grow on it, helping it blend into it's surroundings, there will be two, with the same body but different arms and heads.

That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

As many of you will know, this month a large group of the community are all painting the same model a Savage Ogre, as I've been caught up with my adventurers, Roger pointed out I should be working on my Ogre, I had originally been going for a slow and steady approach, only doing a layer on each section, and then putting it to one side, but Roger's comment turned on the turbo's ! LOL So here he is

I've varied the colours on the fur pelts, to add interest, and done each of the shields with a different heraldry design (kept them fairly simple) then added some scratches. With all the bare skin I wanted some tattoo's so gave him a chest and facial one in tribal markings. Was happy with how the flint colours turned out, and the horns have a nice slow grade to them. That's all for this post, now back to some robots that need my attention, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

SOMETHING FISHY

When Roger was coming up with his challenge, everybody had to pick four words from his lists, my firstr choice was Alien, part armoured, ranged weapon, mercenary, obviously this is a vague starting point, but I had an idea of an evolved fish type alien, loosely based on a Mudskipper ( a fish that can move over land, holding it's breath) using that as a basis and the four words I chose I came up with this.

It needs two water pockets to fit over it's gills, which I will cast in translucent blue resin, so it doesn't need to hold it's breath. Is it worth putting this into production ? As it's very different from a lot of models and races that other companies make.

If you haven't signed up for Keith's Monster May(hem) the registration is up now.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

APOCALYPSE AND BEYOND

This week I've managed to get the tent and campfire, moulded and painted, so is now ready to go on the site for sale.

For the tent I've gone with a blue colour scheme for this one, but there is so many colours you could do them.

The campfire was simple enough to paint, and I used washes and glazes to add colour to the flames, to help keep the translucent feel of the resin.

While I had the above pieces in the moulds, I also got some spaceships moulded that Roger has been patiently waiting for me to finish. The first one above is the hornet, short range pursuit craft, inspired by the ships in the old TV series Blake's 7 for the Federation.

Next is the Tarantula class long range pursuit craft, also inspired by the Federation ships.

Last one today is the Liberation class alien corvette, this is a medium class battleship, and was inspired by the Liberator, from the TV series, although I wanted to go for a more alien technology look than the original. I cast this in translucent green to help the painting of the orb at the back.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

I BLAME ROGER !

This Wednesday Roger will be running his weekly WHAT IF ? on his blog rantingsfromunderthewargamestable , over the weeks it has covered all sorts of subjects in a light hearted fun way, but on one of the weeks we discussed TV series we would love to see remade, my two suggestions was Space 1999, and Blake's 7. Both series at one point were scheduled to have remakes done and then never happened.
So for a couple of weeks now my head had latched onto this idea and started coming up with ideas for Blake's 7, and here's where I've got to

First is the Liberation class alien vessel that Blake and the rest of the crew call home, I've moved away from  a man made look and gone for more of an organic feel, it's alien after all !

Next is the Federation system pursuit ship, Hornet class. These only have short range capabilities, a single solar system, but very agile and have a single main gun.

Next is the long range pursuit craft, Tarantula class, has better range capabilities and also two missle pods as well as it's main gun.

Last up today is a Federation Destroyer, Scorpion class, thinking it will have a main cannon and lots of smaller weapons bristling the body
Still a long way to go on these with detailing, then onto crew and ship bridge, but that's a story for another day, WHAT HAVE YOU STARTED ROGER !!!!
Until next time stay safe and have fun !
