A DESERT TRIBE

During the summer my youngest daughter got me a gift, for risking life and limb picking up a motorcycle for her to be able to start riding after her birthday. She got me a set of Tusken raiders to add to my tribe, the set consisted of six males and three females. I've kept to my normal sort of colours but varied the tones slightly from previous sets. Below are the six males, they are all 3D prints and the quality is crisp, but some of the finer details are a little shallow, which would be my only criticism.

The one on the right is sat on a rock, which was a bit of a strange pose, but still looks effective. Below are the three females, which are all armed in a variety of ways, which is a nice change from the ones I built.

Below is a group shot of all the Tuskens I currently have.

I still need to do some more tents, and I would like some more hounds, and children, and then I need to do some riding Banthas to really make it complete. That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Always good to see more Star Wars stuff on your site, Dave. Do you know who the 3D print manufacturer is perchance..? I assume they're scaled for Legion as opposed to Shatterpoint or Imperial Assault..?

    1. Thank you Simon, it's always a realm I will return to, as it's my favourite ! LOL The 3D designer is Black Remnant and yes these are scaled for Legion, wont be getting shatter point, as I don't want to add a third scale to my collection ! LOL

  2. Really like these new tribe members, especially the armed females! Never see the ladies getting down and dirty in the films or cartoons, heck I don't recall them doing any actual fighting in the comics (?).

    1. Thank you Dai, they are welcome additions, which add some more variation to the group. The only time I've actually seen them hold a weapon is in a promo shot from the second movie, obviously there were some fighting in Book of Boba Fett, but as they were dressed the same as the males, it was hard to tell, which were which ! LOL

    1. Thank you Suber, I've been playing with different tones, to add a little variation, but overall look like they belong together.

These look really good Dave! :-) Quite a band of them now! Good for you picking up a bike for your daughter - sometimes I think it'd be nice to have a bike again (I miss my 1987 model GPZ550)!

    1. Thank you John, slowly expanding, and will be good to get the last components to it ! LOL I miss riding bikes, but bringing this one home for my daughter showed how broken I am, and really don't have much chance of many more rides ! LOL

  6. That is a dangerous looking bunch of Tuskens! Its really cool seeing them altogether and that's the type of image you'd expect to see in a White Dwarf (if they had the Star Wars license, which will obviously never happen).

    1. Thank you Jeff, has taken a while to get the numbers up, but starting to look like a full tribe. That is high praise indeed, especially with my meagre photography skills (With how much they spent on the LOTR licence, I can't imagine them getting another ! LOL)

  7. At first glance I didn't think they were printed, good job on them and I like the desert photo!

    1. Thank you SD, they are the resin prints, so no lines (thankfully ! LOL) still a little shallow on some details, but overall very good.

  8. What a lovely gift, Dave! The modles look really nice, and the paintwork on them has come up really well. They've really given your Tusken Tribe numbers a solid bump as well!

  9. These are excellent addtions to your growing tribe, the final photograph surprised me too as to just how many of the guys you've accumulated and yet you still want/need more !

    1. Thank you Joe, after their increased screen time in the series, I realised that I would need a few more hounds, and children. I'll probably make the Bantha riding ones, as the 3D prints are very expensive ! LOL

  10. I remember seeing the Tusken Raiders in the theater when New Hope first came out and not knowing that they were actors in costumes. I was really intrigued by these alien things with the weird yells.

You've done a great job with your tribe there and these new additions fit nicely!

    1. Thank you Brian, I've really enjoyed the franchise giving them some extra time and background, which has encouraged me to expand my tribe, but add in some tonal variance .
