So now we all know who I shall be making I better actually get on and show some actual work, I have finished D.R.'s sculpt, the foam core method I find is getting a lot quicker for me, now I know the materials limitations, and compensate with toothpick strengthening rods.
I'm also a third of the way through Quinch, and probably the most detailed third, as I'm waiting on greenstuff to arrive, I'll probably concentrate on Crazy Chrissy next.
I have actually managed to sculpt and paint a complete piece for this project, the teddy bear that was in the foreground.
For the blown out stuffing I used cotton wool to get the desired effect, I had a left a hollow in the back of the sculpt, to allow for the cotton wool to be stuck in. That's all for today, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
One last thing I keep forgetting to post and is very important, with Roger's challenge Ogre Tarmor has offered to be a drop point for anyone in the following areas of Australia Victoria, NSW, QLD and SA, can't remember were Dave (guru Pig) and Azazael are but let me know if this is of use to you both.
Cheers Dave
Fantastic work, Dave! Even if I hadn't seen your previous post I'd know who these chaps are! I can't wait to see the progress you make on them!
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt, that is high praise indeed. Chrissy is proving a pain, and having to decide which scatter bits to do, and what is feasible, might have worked out how to do the bowl of Rippy Fish ! LOL
DeleteGreat work on these Dave. The Comic is unknown to me but seems it is one I shouldn't have missed out on. Regarding the Ogre challenge I am in, but not sure where Tarmor lives to comment. Both Az and I are in Melbourne.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dave, Titan books actually do an anthology of all the DR & Quinch stories https://shop.2000ad.com/catalogue/GRN265 Tarmor is in Victoria, so maybe won't work for all three of you but can combine yours and Az's which will half the cost of shipping for you.
DeleteGreat sculpts all Dave!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark, when it's bits just for me, I tend to be a bit more fluid with my sculpting, which is also quicker ! LOL
DeleteYou are my hero. Not a forgotten hero at all, just my hero. What an astoundishing work!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, it's normally only my children who call me their hero, but that's normally when they need something fixed, painted, or sculpted ! LOL
DeleteThese match the comic artwork really well, Dave. I look forward to seeing them painted up!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, I'm enjoying working on them, and hope to have at least one painted up by next time, as they need a lot more paint than the 28 mm versions ! LOL
DeleteThese are really coming along! Going to be fun watching you recreate this panel in 3D. :D Hopefully next year I can contribute to Forgotten Heroes, I just had an idea of what to do but it would take me too long to plot it out.
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian, going to take a bit of artistic licence with what bits I do , and don't do, but hopefully overall should be a cool scene. Would be grat to have you on board as well next year, as I really enjoy seeing what everyone else creates.
DeleteGreat progress! I could never even fathom how you do it. 😀
ReplyDeleteThank you Stewart, once you've got the basic shape with the foam core, it's just building up layers with the greenstuff, and knowing which layer to do first.
DeleteGreat progress and the pieces are easily recognised from the picture.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, that is high praise indeed, hopefully I can continue on doing these characters justice ! LOL
DeleteComing along very nicely and very quickly Dave! :-) The teddy bear's spot on!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, it was a fun piece to do, and I've hit a couple of bits that are slowing me up at the moment ! LOL
DeleteAwesome start! That teddy bear is a lovely piece, faithful to the art for sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dai, sometimes it's the little things that can bring so much fun ! LOL
DeleteVery cool sculpts, Dave! The stuffed toy has a Simpsons/Futurama vibe to it with the three eyes as well!
ReplyDeleteTarmor is in Melbourne as well - though AusPost's local shipping isn't always pleasant. I'll likely see how much the postage will cost direct from you to me so then I just have to worry about post costs the one time - usually RM has been pretty reasonable when I've ordered from Heresy or Hasslefree, etc.
Thank you Azazael, there is strong similarities indeed, these were around before those cartoons though.
DeleteNo problem at all mate, as I don't know internal rates for other countries, it was just a suggestion, I'll take a box up next week and get a price so I can let you all know.
It may well work out better for some of the others - just if it's going to cost around the same overall I figure I may as well just get them sent direct. I'm looking at more than the 1 figure, anyway. Which post did you add the instructions to?
DeleteNo problem at all mate, you can email me directly on what you want to order, and I can sort it out from there for you. wargamesterrainworkshop@yahoo.co.uk
