TWISTED SISTERS

No I am not discussing Rock Bands but a couple of dark females from the realm of 40K, the models these are based on, originally appeared in the game Inquisitor which was a 60 mm scale and more of a role play game than GW's normal wargame style, below is the models that appeared in that game Severina, and Sevora the Death cultists

Later on GW released 40K versions, just titled Death Cultists and were an option available in the Witch Hunter army (Sisters of Battle) below is the models they released.

Originally I thought about converting the models to look more like their larger scale versions, but in the end decided to just do it with the colours as seen below.

Pretty happy with how they turned out, and another two off of the pile. That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Someone at GW said "how bout we take Dark Maul, do a gender swap, sexy it up, and add a BDSM style corset?"
    Everyone else said "freakin' brilliant.'

Yeah, they do look pretty cool. 😁

    1. Thank you Stewart, GW female models normally fall into two categories, ultra pure ( Sisters of battle) or down right right dirty ( Wyches, these ladies) ! LOL to be honest it would be good to see them do some more regular women for Imperial Guard and would make a nice change.

Nicely done, Dave! :-) I think you've got the look of the larger figures with those paint schemes!

    1. Thank you John, that is what I hoped for but just with paint rather than greenstuff this time ! LOL

  3. Stew beat me to the BDSM, gimp comment! :) These are not among GW's most inspired sculpts and I think they're pretty old nowadays too but I love the way you painted yours. It is funny how GW tends to use female characters as well like you said, Dave. I think they're trying to move past having ladies like this but we'll see what the future holds!

    1. Thank you Jeff, When Rogue Trader first came out, there was a whole bunch of female characters available in the adventurers section, that didn't fall into either stereo type, then it moved to no female models at all, until they went in the current direction, it would be nice to see them include more regular female models, the Eldar range has lots, so why not the human element.

  4. They both really turned out good, the use of the palette is nice and you nailed them. Well done!

    1. Thank you Suber, it was a fun exercise, using paint to adjust the look of a model rather than greenstuff, I may try it again sometime ! LOL

  5. Lovely (?) Pair of death cultists, I had them with a sisters of battle army which I gave away as I was never going to paint it and I think these two went with it, great finish on the pair of them!

    1. Thank you Iain, If I remember I only picked these up just to have all the assassin options available, but I still need to do a Cullexus, as I didn't like the original model, the new plastic was a lot better, just way too expensive ! LOL

  6. GW sculptors...let's see, we need to change this. Let's make sure only foot attaches to the base so that the mini will constantly break off and they will have to buy another one!!! Ugh. I actually like the older minis better. The one leg up post has just been done so many millions of times that I'm tired of it. Still, you did a nice job with them and they look good! So that's what really counts!

    1. Thank you Brian, it's the quickest and easiest route to portray movement, so basic sculpting 101, there are many ways to make a model look dynamic, but the casting process is trickier, which is why they go for the path of least resistance ! LOL

  7. Oh damn, I remember those models (all four of them!) Only got the two 40k ones, but I don't even know where they are right now. So congratulations both on getting them painted, and especially on such a great job on both!

    1. Thank you Azazael, they are quite old now, I was going to paint them for Fembruary last year, but couldn't find mine either, luckily they turned up for this year ! LOL

    2. Yeah, I think Fembruary might be something that I won't have any figures finished for this year (though ironically, all my January models were female!)

    3. That is ironic ! LOL Luckily this year I had more than enough to distract me so I could keep my pile of female models for Fembruary ! LOL
