THE BITCH IS BACK

My last entry for Monster May(hem) is my biggest, standing in at over 13 inches tall is the Halcyon Alien Queen. I have had this model for well over 30 years now, it was built once before, which was a challenge in itself, as this was the first PVC kit I'd ever built, and provides all new challenges compared to a plastic kit. It unfortunately had an accident some 18 years ago, but more on that later, first the cool pictures (well as cool as my limited photography skills can muster).

Here is a shot of her with the Ripley and Power Loader I have previously shown on this blog before.

Below are some WIP shots of the missing parts I had to replace.

I had to put the head back together again for this build, refit one of her legs, refit the fins as well, I think the fitting and blending this time are actually better than the first time, but was disappointed the the PVC fins would not reset straight, so had to make do with them as they are. That's all for this post, next month is Forgotten Heroes challenge, which I am deciding what to do this year, so until next time, stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  4. I read the title and thought "this BETTER be the alien queen with a title like that."
and it was, and she is OMG fabulous. I think I even heard the hiss in my mind.

    1. Thank you Stewart, thought it was the perfect title for her, especially now being all in one piece again ! LOL Glad you like her, it was a challenge to paint, but worth it in the end, and who says pictures don't come with sounds ! LOL

    1. Thank you Jeff, a long time ago I did actually start a Tyranid army where all the creatures were based off of movie monsters ( Carnifex was an arachnid from Starship Troopers, gargoyles were the creatures from Pitch Black) but I got bored and gave them away, now I'm just happy doing actual models of the monsters ! LOL

  10. I think I recall when this model hit the FLGS and it was a huge box ! Great to see an assembled on and luckily your skills with the green have brought it back to its magnificence.

    1. Thank you Joe, you are spot on with the size of the box, it was massive, I got it from a branch of Beaties so shows how long ago that was ! LOL Was worried whether I could make the replacement parts to a decent level, which is why it's sat for so long.

  11. 13 inches tall is enormous and she looks pretty precarious too, so no wonder she fell once or twice. Now she's all painted up in her glory, I hope you have her on a shelf where that can't happen again?

Your repairs are seamless though! If you hadn't of shown the pics of the GS work, I would never have realised. Great last entry for May!

    1. Thank you Dai, she is securely pinned to the base now, so no falling from now on ! LOL She never fell was more like pushed during a messy divorce ! LOL
The repairs are what were the stumbling block for so long, as i didn't know if I could get away with recreating the missing pieces, by the sounds of it I did ! LOL
