ZIPPO !

First off the factory line for this years Forgotten Heroes is probably no surprise Zippo, as the frame for this one was almost finished when I did my introduction post

The character was introduced during the series "The Volgan Wars" originally was part of a covert group and known as agent orange. After the A.B.C. Warriors had kicked Mek Quake out of the warriors and dumped him off at an asylum for robots, they had gone to rescue Zippo and recruit him, and on the journey each character recanted how they had first met Zippo during the Volgan War. he has since been in the intro and end of Return to Earth, Return to Mars and Return to Ro-Busters, probably more but that's as far as they have printed in Graphic novel form.
The whole model is either greenstuff, or plastic rod, and painted in a colour scheme to fit with the comic strip.

If I was making this as a production model I would have to do it with two head variants, to show the difference between mouth open and closed, and he'd also need multiple arm variants as he's been shown with multiple configurations.
That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Nice work Dave on one of the more unusual members of Warriors, I have to admit my own collection only goes up to the end of the Volgon war. So didn't know he has been in the adventures after.

Great start, looks like you are going to put the rest of us to shame as usual!!!! :-)

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, the adventurers after are mostly recollections again leading up to why they did things and being able to hunt down Mr Ten Per Cent as he seems to be the route of all problems, plus still having to worry about the Volgan contingent and the G men.
With the high level of quality work everyone else does I wouldn't say I shamed anyone, and fondly remember all the great submissions in 2018 and 2019 which I did not enter.

  3. Awesome work, Dave. Never heard of Zippo before, but I only really became an ABC Warriors fan when they joined Nemesis The Warlock in his adventures as penned by Bryan Talbot (Book 4 I believe?). He does look the part though - what a great imagination Pat Mills has, and certainly makes me want to get my own ABC Robots out and painted.

    1. Thank you Simon, your spot on with it being Nemesis book four when the warriors join them. As both were my favourites it was a great time for me, but still enjoy both through the rest of their journey's and collect them both in graphic novel form.

    1. Thank you Joe, no problem, the only reason I can remember it all is from rereading them all from time to time ! LOL
They've had multiple different sets as well, so if it's not something you keep up with it's easy to miss.
Clint puts in a lot of detail in his artwork, and changes the design often to ( even in the same episode) so a lot comes down to interpretation, but wanted to do his hard work justice.

    3. The A.B.C. Warriors were first shown in 2000 ad and they have since repeated the stories in Graphic Novel form, some of the earlier stories are no longer in print in their original format but are available in the Mek Files currently and can be found here https://shop.2000ad.com/ they also do digital copies which are a lot cheaper if you prefer that format

    1. Thank you Frank, when working from artwork, you need to capture the artwork faithfully as it could be someone else's favourite character
