I have my next two adventurers painted, first is the Ursaxum, the crew call her Candy, as she is so sweet. Her real name is TRZZK which the Aquarian races really struggle to pronounce. The daughter of a Chieftain, she was supposed to marry the son of a rival tribe, but Candy thought he was too stupid to survive, so ran away instead, looking for adventure. Her race are coloured like the local rocks and grasses, for camouflage, as there are some super predators, which have been known to devour whole villages in a single meal.
Bodil left his homeworld as the constant carnage became too much for him, and he thought the life of a pirate or privateer would be more sedentary and less blood thirsty. He sleeps a lot better in his new role !
Below I have included a picture of the four I now have painted.
Really want to get started on Dai's suggestions, but some silly idiot has a terrain challenge running so better get back on with some of that, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
They've painted up nicely, excellent work!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, Candy took a while to get the colours how I wanted, but was happy with the end result, Bodil even though it was more time consuming I had a definite plan, and seemed to go quicker ! LOL
DeleteNew aliens look even better painted up!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked my suggestions enough to want to actually sculpt them. :) No rush on those tho, of course.
Thank you Dai, a bit of colour can totally change a model, and add to it's story ! LOL
DeleteA great idea is always worth pursuing, and to see how it develops, is always fun. As for the no rush, not a very patient person ! LOL
Whoa, I just got way confused. Did you just say that Dai had some good ideas? I need to go lie down. Or YOU should go lie down, bc you must be tired. Dai hasn’t had a good idea since 2011. Think twice.
Delete(Dai and I are friends: we tease each other online). 😀
Great job on the miniatures.
Speaking of the terrain challenge, how does the end work? Do you want us to email you pictures or just post as usual and you can use those?
Thank you Stewart, don't worry have seen how you both interact on your respective blogs, so didn't think anything of it ! LOL And I wont mention Romulan fleet, or Borg cube either ! LOL
DeleteTo be honest even bad ideas can be made into something good, have taken many a really bad B movie monster and made it into something good in the past.
I normally take from your site, and then post it up with a link, as I only include sample pictures, so that people will hopefully visit your blogs to see all the wonderful posts on show.
It was 2012 actually....
DeleteROFL, was it that monumental that you remembered the date Dai ? LOL
DeleteI stand corrected.
Delete2012 it is. 😀
I understand how the challenge ends. I’ll post a lot of pictures.
no problem Stewart, glad I could clear it up for you.
DeleteLove these, Dave! You've made a group of very imaginative and unique looking aliens and the paintjobs really bring them to life!
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt, hope the rest of the group will be as interesting, then some fun adventures, although I don't think my write ups will be as good as yours.
DeleteSplendid brushwork, Dave, especially on the Ursaxum as I think the paint-job really helps show off all the attention to detail you've sculpted on the alien's fur etc. Love the group shot at the end too. What a great quartet you've assembled.
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, it can be very hard to see all the detail when it's in one colour especially the green. Only six more to go, and maybe a shuttlecraft, and they will be ready for some adventure's ! LOL
DeleteAbsolutely gogeous creations!! Pretty impressive!
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, having a blast doing this group, and with no constraints, means the skies the limit ! LOL
DeleteI know I said I was excited to see these painted up but I think you have exceeded my expectations here. Both of these really look lifelike and the animal parts that are recognizable from our world look realistic to my eyes. Also, I commend you for not painting anything fun and sticking to terrain like the rest of us ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, glad I could surprise you with their schemes, and always try for a natural effect with creatures if I can, even if using more unusual colours. As these are also for work, it wasn't just fun, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it ! LOL
DeleteThese look so well sculpted and painted up. I am also behind on somebody's terrain challenge - I think I may underwhelm on it...
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark, I'm having a lot of fun on these, both sculpting and painting, which hopefully shows through. No worries on the challenge Mark, you've got one in, and that's what counts taking part.
DeleteTwo widely different critters but each has their own character, mostly due to your choice of colouring I think.
ReplyDeleteThey look excelent.
Thank you Joe, I really want the group to be all shapes and sizes, yet working together as a team.
DeleteNow they look superb mate!
ReplyDeleteCheers Roger
Thank you Roger, I'm thourghly enjoying working on this band of misfits, and looking forward to working on the next ones.
DeleteI'm lagging behind again I'm afraid! Nice to see these two painted, Dave! Both very nice but I really like Candy! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you John, no worries mate, I know the feeling at the moment ! LOL I like candy too, just keeps reminding me of the song " I Want Candy !" LOL
DeleteFunnily enough I nearly made a comment about "I Want Candy"!
DeleteGreat minds think alike John, and i can't get the damn song out of my head now ! LOL
DeleteYou know what typing that just triggered in my own head, don't you.....?
Deletehttps://youtu.be/c18441Eh_WE?si=HCVRhZX_2ld-ZY10
LOL the progressive songs stuck in our heads continue ! LOL
DeleteGreat creations again, Dave! Candy might need to wax those armpits, though if she wants to keep Batman around! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazel, who knows in alien culture a hairy armpit could be attractive ! LOL
