APEX OF THE STORM

Have now finished the third member of the Typhoon squadron, which is another squadron completed. Same conversion as before, just different crew again, as I like plenty of variance among my marines.

Here it is with the rest of his squadron, and the other squadron I had already done, but have gone in and added the chipping on these as well.

I'm now about half way through the company, I need to do two squadrons of Tornados which I already have the models for, two more Tsunami's which I need to finish making, two more Tempest's which I need to get, and two more standard speeders, which I also need to get. for the final squadron I'm thinking of using the Dark Angels Land Speeder Vengeance as the basis, if they are ever back in stock.

In other news I'm happy to report that the challenge Ogre has been moulded and the first test cast done, with no problems or voids or air holes, so are now ready to start taking requests on these, don't forget to let me know whether you want square or round base, or no base at all.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Nice work on both ends here Dave! The Challenge Ogre looks like mean business - and the variety for your space marines is indeed the spice of life! As for the Ogre, I'm good with no base as I can take care of that. Just advise as to the ordering stuff.

    1. Thank you Mark, it can be a lot of work to make an army of individuals but I think it's worth it in the long run and adds a lot more character. Glad you like the Ogre, and no problem on the base. As for how to order, just drop an email with preferred type of postage (Tracked, tracked and signed or standard) and I will find out the posting rates, or if anyone is thinking of using it to do an order at the same time, place the order, and in the comments box mark challenge Ogre, and I will include it with your order, and send a Paypal invoice for the ogre £1 costs.

  2. Super cool to see the squadrons together! Will be quite an imposing sight on the tabletop with the rest of your chapter eventually.

Ogre looks spectacular mate! Won't be ordering for a little while yet, probably Summertime for me if that will work?

No problem at all on the ogre mate, just wanted to make i available as soon as possible for everyone, but happy for whenever people are ready.

    1. Thank you Brian, it can get a little repetitive painting them all which is why I try to add variation for my sanity ! LOL when completed 30 speeders on the board should really be a sight to see.

  6. This moel fits in well with all the others, though still retaining some uniqueness about it.The goup shot at the end is a great picture shwing off their firepower and general threatening apperance,

    1. Thank you Iain, your suggestion of adding individual details, made them possible. It was a fun build, and hopefully should be equally fun to paint.

  8. I was going to ask how many speeders you need but I saw how many you're shooting for above and all I can say is wow, that is a lot of speeders! Does this army specialize in them? I wouldn't have thought you could field that many normally though I know very little about 40k rules truthfully. The ogre looks great and I'm looking forward to seeing many different painted versions of it in the near future!

    1. Thank you Jeff, the space marine army that field the most would be Dark Angels, as if you take the master of the Ravenwing, bikes and speeders count as troop choices, as this army is for my games at home, it's not a problem, and yes my chapter specialises in aerial combat, so I have one company that all has jetbikes, a company all on speeders and two companies that are all jump pack troopers, they should certainly give my Dark Eldar a run for their money ! LOL

    1. Thank you John, as my chapter uses a lot of recovered armour to keep going, I wanted it to reflect in the marines so they look like individuals rather than just rank and file
