Today I have the next piece I've completed for my client, this time it's a pair of ruined walls, that can work in conjunction with each other or as two separate pieces. This set of pictures is what I originally sent my client. As I had done werewolf footprints I thought a pee stain in the snow marking it's territory would be fitting.
Here are detailed shots of the two easter eggs I added
This one was a real hoot to do. |
My client wasn't keen on the yellow snow, so asked for some blood and bones instead, and also asked for snow on some of the walls as if the wind had blown it on them, after a quick bit of research this was the result.
The werewolf discards it's latest snack. |
Here are the construction photo's for those looking to build their own.
That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Great looking terrain for Frostgrave, Dave! The windswept snow on the walls looks pretty cool and all the nice little touches are really great. One of the first tips they told me when moving to Alaska was "Don't eat yellow snow!". So I found the yellow snow quite funny and fitting. Though the sub looks good and grisly, so I guess it's a win in the end!
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian, first time doing that effect, and I think it came out well, love doing the little touches and adding to the story. I thought the yellow snow was a fun element, but got to go with what the client wants, and the remains turned out well, so as you say a win in the end.
DeleteThis is a cracking series, Dave, especially with the WIPs shown as well. Your pic of the owl alongside your "Hoot" comment made me spit my coke out too!!! LOL!!! I did wonder though whether a snowy, more wintry background might show off your excellent work better than a desert..?
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, sorry about the coke, hopefully it missed the keyboard ! LOL As I don't currently game over a frozen tundra, it's desert or arid landscape, really need to get some more backdrops, and photograph areas, I'll add it to the long list of I really nee . . . !LOL
DeleteAnother lovely couple of pieces mate, he must be getting quite the board full by now.
ReplyDeleteCheers Roger.
Thank you Roger, it's certainly growing, hje still has quite a few more ideas.
DeleteLiking the snow on the walls for this one.
ReplyDeleteWould have done similarly for my winter terrain, but then I realised with it all being modular, all the facings with snow would always have to be placed the same way on the tabletop to look natural and that's wouldn't be practical!
Thank you Dai, Fully understand where your coming from, it was why I'd left it off of the other pieces, but as the client asked for it, I wasn't going to say no.
DeleteWow. What a fantastic piece (again!). As always, I love the tiny details. The owl is particularly inspiring. It's like it could serve as the excuse for a side quest, something like that. Bravo.
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, the extras make a piece for me, so enjoy doing them, and as you say can add extras to the games your playing.
DeleteGreat work, Dave - the old classic ruined corner pieces! Is there a battlefield on any planet or realm that's not covered in them? :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazael, probably the most versatile gaming piece, as you have multiple entry points, and cover from multiple directions, weirdly I have very few in my own scenery collection ! LOL
DeleteGreat job. I can be sure it was a great job bc I got cold looking at the pictures. Now I want a sweater. 😀
ReplyDeleteThank you Stewart, I guess you would rather I kept the desert background to help keep you warm ! LOL
DeleteVery nicely done, Dave! :-) I like the bloody bits and the snowswept walls really do look the part!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, all my clients ideas on those, but they certainly add to the atmosphere of the pieces.
DeleteTwo very simpe but very effective scenic items with some great detail that cold easily be lost at first glance.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, when I sent the construction pictures my client couldn't find the easter eggs, which wasn't surprising as the ares were mostly green stuff and hard to spot.
DeleteExcellent work again on the Frostgrave terrain, Dave! The little touches really add life and character to the ruins. Its awesome seeing how much you can do with these typical pieces of terrain as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, my basic principle is that life doesn't disappear from a war zone, so why should it on our scenery ! LOL As you say it gives life to the pieces and adds to the story, which is what we are effectively doing, telling stories with miniatures.
DeleteLovely couple of terrain pieces!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, they have been fun to work on.
