LOVING THE ALIEN

The diversity that Fantasy Flight Games has included in the rebel box sets has been great, with not only female models but aliens as well, which adds to the interest in each box for me.

The first model comes from the Imperial Assault box Return to Hoth, and is a Mon Calamari sniper, I've gone with a colour scheme that replicates the artwork, the only bit I've really changed is the face colouring, and gone with one from a episode of the Mandolorian.

Next is a Ithorian, I've done his skin similar to the mayor seen in the book of Boba Fett recently, rather than the normal browns you see.

This next one is a Ishi Tib, you may have briefly seen these creatures in Jabba's Palace, but they have appeared in other films and series.

This one is a Gran, now the first one you will have seen was also in Jabba's Palace, but have been used in multiple films and series since.

The last alien I have today, is a Duro's these were first seen in the cantina on Tatooine, but have appeared in many places since.

Last up today, are 4 human rebel's that came from the various sets that the alien models did. I've gone for similar colours to the Pathfinder models I've already done, which will tie them in well, as I didn't think the normal green camo, would look very good on the deserts of Tatooine that you usually see the models painted in.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Fantastic painting on all these, Dave! I especially like the Ithorian's skin tones, you've got the mayor's look really well!

    1. Thank you Matt, used a lot of glazes, to get the relevant look of the mayor, which was a fun exercise to do, others were painted with more traditional methods.

  2. Oh these are excellent, Dave. Superb stuff. You're really cranking these out currently, and with no loss of quality to your painting either. You're clearly still very determined to maintain this site as the definitive guide to Star Wars wargaming :-)

    1. Thank you Simon, was worried that my recent illness would slow me up, but luckily managed to work around it. Was very lucky at Christmas, with all the kits I got, currently only have one box of rebels left to get (until they release more ! LOL) but this year I really want to get on with some citizens, enough to populate a 6' x 4' Mos Eisley board, so should take up a lot of time ! LOL

    1. Thank you Dai, some great sculpts in there indeed, glad you like the Ithorian skin tones, as soon as I saw the mayor, decided that was the one for this model.

    1. Thank you Suber, agreed far too often, it's all human models, so glad they decided to add some aliens into the mix.

  6. As usual, just brilliant Dave! I've gone through all your older posts as well and your Star Wars output continues to inspire. It was especially cool to actually see you on video talking shop as the chances of ever actually meeting or hearing you speak in person are probably astronomical lol! Cheers mate 😀

    1. Thank you Ivor, so good to see you back on the blogosphere. Glad the posts could inspire, and you enjoyed the rare interview, who knows maybe one day when I'm in the US we can meet in person.

  7. Lovely work mate as always, what do you think of "The Book of Boba Fett" by the way? I'm enjoying it though it seems a little slow so far, and quite honestly he'd be screwed without "agent May" from Agents of Shield (I know she's called something else in this but she'll always be May to me! 😉).

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, thourghly enjoying Book of Boba fett, adding a lot of depth to the character, and filling in a lot of holes, also like how they are adding more character to the sandpeople. The extras for the fans are great and not taking over the show, just adding to it. Fennec Shand ( May) is a great support for Boba

  8. You know me, I love seeing as many obscure Star Wars aliens as I can find :) Each of them looks great and I'm glad FFG is making models for Ithorians and Mon Calamarians. I hope they'll continue to expand what's available as I love seeing them and the more obscure the better as far as I'm concerned! :)

    1. Thank you Jeff, I have one more alien to show as part of Fembruary, and it's the most obscure of the bunch, so stay tuned. I'm hoping they keep expanding too, and would love to see more aliens in the sets, I know there is a Mon Calamari in the Rebel Commando's box, and Sullustan in the Hoth Rebels box, so can only hope they keep adding.
