THEY'RE LIKE ANIMALS

As with many statements in Star Wars, it all depends from your point of view, and the title was Anakin's after the death of his mother, but recent series like the Mandolorian, and the book of Boba Fett has shown a very different side to the Tusken Raiders, or Sand People.

Sarah recently got me this set of 3D prints, which included four raiders, and two Mastiffs, which will certainly help bolster, my Tusken group.

Above is an individual shot of each model, the quality of the prints was excellent, and the diversity of poses adds a lot of character to the models.

Here is a group shot of them all, I've kept with the traditional colour scheme, as it ties in with the models I've already painted, would still like to add some more to the group, so will keep my eye out for more prints, or sculpt some myself.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Loving the beasties, they look so friendly (not) and good boost of raiders for your forces. The quality may vary with these (imho) excellent prints, just as it does with both plastics and metal figures.

    1. Thank you Joe, I think they're just misunderstood, as they can be very loyal and affectionate ! LOL Indeed the detail in some places on the prints can be very light, but enjoyed painting them, and you're spot on with the same can be said with many plastics and metals.

  2. Excellent additions to your Sand People, Dave. Definitely a nice variety of poses, and the mastiffs look formidable guard dogs indeed.

    1. Thank you Simon, it certainly adds some variation to the single pose I got from the Imperial Assault box set, the Mastiffs are cool, and have recently found a 3D printed set with multiple poses, including a sleeping one, think that set needs to move up higher on my want list ! LOL

  3. Love these minis, Dave, and it's nice to see some Sand People figures. The colours are all true to the movies, and the mastiffs are spot-on from watching The Book of Boba Fett. The different poses are a real boost too.

    1. Thank you Matt, lot of pausing the movies and series, to match the colours, but worth it in the end, just need some more poses on the sand people, and I should have a pretty impressive clan.

    2. I have to admit, I'd love to know what they look like under those odd bandages/helmets.

  4. Very nicely done sir! I've always had a soft spot for the sand people. Now if only they had hit Anakin when he was a kid in that speeder race, think of the trouble that could have been avoided.

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, a very underutilised race until the recent series in my opinion. But if they killed Anakin, who would have given rise to the force to defeat Palpatine ! LOL

The range of poses is very good too. Sarah found some gems for sure.

    1. Thank you Dai, I wqas surprised at how quick they painted up, but I guess once you've got the right colours, that's the biggest hurdle over.
I've got a list of sellers saved on Ebay, so whenever, she fancies getting me a surprise, she knows where to look ! LOL

    1. Thank you Frank, they were such a cool concept, and very much enjoyed the development in the recent series, the new colours in the latest series are cool, but I'd already got 4 done in the original colours, so stuck with them.

  8. Great stuff Dave! I would expect to soon see you posting some new 3D designs for the Sandpeople that I'm sure are on their way with the Fett series - perhaps even a Tusken or two on a speeder 🤔 😀

    1. Thank you Suber, so far I've 8 on foot, and one mounted on a Bantha, so probably double on foot, and at least 6 more on Bantha, with 2 riders on each, would be ideal for me.

  12. The Tusken Raiders look great, Dave! They're definitely the real danger in the wastes of Tatooine. I just re-upped with Disney Plus so I figure I'll be watching Boba Fett too soon enough :)
