IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE

Thankfully not this week, just a couple of medical droids, the first one came in the Imperial Assault set Return to Hoth, I found the models in this set to be on the smaller side of the scale from Fantasy Flight Games, but I'm sure I'll end up using the models anyrate. The character is listed as MHD-19 and I went with the FFG colour scheme for it.

The next one came in the Legion scale box of Rebel Specialists, and I went with the classic colour scheme of 21-B  as seen in Empire Strikes Back, he also appeared in Return of the Jedi, working a console in the rebel briefing.

I've also managed to finish a box of Rebel Fleet Troopers, I've gone with the classic colour scheme from A New Hope, and done all the helmets with the dark green plate at the front, even though as you'll see in the reference picture below, I found one with a white one.

One of the cool things I found with the Rebel sets, is that they have been including female models into the units, which personally I think is a great addition, and adds to the diversity in the units.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. The doc bot looks superb, but a little scary and would make a greeat bot 'gone rogue'.
The troopers look excellent though Idid originally think they had Ushanks on rather than helmets (old age, bad eyes etc.)

    1. Thank you Joe, agree it is a very versatile model, and a would perfectly fit a rogue robot.
The troopers were great kits to paint, and can easily see where the idea on the Ushanks came from.

  2. Ooh,your 21-B is bringing back memories, I had the Hasbro one when I was a kid! Love the Rebel troops too, you've really got the colours nailed down and the sculpts look good - nice to see a variation in the poses.

    1. Thank you Matt, I too had the same figure back in the day, although it was a lot easier to have a clear piece for the waist, than trying to paint it to look the same ! LOL
Do like how each box set has no duplicates in it, so each model has it's own character, which is perfect for Star Wars.

  3. Wonderful work Dave you really do love your Star wars 😊 which makes me believe yours would be a good home for the models I have & will never do anything with.

  4. All of them are nice additions, but I like both bots particularly. Pretty nice work.

    1. Thank you Suber, glad you like the bots, as trying to get a solid piece painted to look clear is not something I fancy trying again soon ! LOL

  5. Love the med droids! That they each have a distinctly different carapace colour just makes them all the cooler.

Fleet troops are great! Wonder if they carve up as easily on the tabletop as they did in ep iv and rogue 1? Lol

    1. Thank you dai, having the two models allowed me to play with the carapace colours, as I obviously had to have 21-B, the second model allowed me to play with the FFG colour scheme as well.
Some absolutely brilliant sculpts in the box, the only thing missing is a guy on his knee braced for the attack ! LOL I'm sure they'll die in their droves just like in the movies, although it could be fun to do Vader verses the seven and see how it lays out !

  8. Great looking droids and the rebel troopers look great, sorry to hear you've been unwell, but I would take the palsy over a stroke anyday! Good luck!

    1. Thank you Iain, was pleased with the end results on these. Indeed out of the two I was very lucky to have the lesser.

Nicely done, Dave! :-) I always think those medical droids look a bit sinister!

    1. Thank you John, I think that's partly because of the role John, I'm always waiting for them to burst into song, with that massive microphone in his faceplate ! LOL

  10. Excellent stuff, Dave. Sorry I seem to have missed this one when first posted as its an absolute cracker, imho. Love the medical droids, but those Fleet Troopers are outstanding. I'll be sure to revisit this page when I dig mine out to finally finish them.

    1. Thank you Simon, I don't think the notifications works all the time, so don't worry. Was pleased with the results of all of them, and can give you the list of colours if you need them, when you get round to yours.

  11. Lovely work Dave, looking good.
It is nice to see females added to units. All the Legion ones I have are all male affairs.

    1. Thank you Justin, I'm surprised you've not had more female models so far Justin, the only Rebel box, I can't comment on so far is the Rebel Commando's, but all the others have had at least one in them, obviously very few in the Imperial box sets, I've only found one so far, in the specialists box set, and is a female officer.

    2. I have the original core and just a few expansions, all early releases, so that might be it. I think they added more diversity to later releases.

    3. In the rebels you've got there are some females, there just not easy to spot, because of the outfits they are wearing, they are covering the female shape, will be showing them in my Fembuary posts, but one is in a sniping pose and the other is carrying the smaller of the heavy weapons, the face was the easiest place to spot them.

  13. Very nice work on all of these, Dave! I really think the Rebels are iconic now since they're in the opening of A New Hope. You did an awesome job painting them up as well. I'm curious how useful the medical droid is in the game but I'm sure it has its uses as a healer.

    1. Thank you Jeff, indeed plus we saw them in Rogue One being utterly decimated by Vader. The robot comes as part of the rebel specialists box, in game terms, he can remove wounds or poison tokens from the rebel side, personally I think he needs more of a role, so will have to adapt his rules.
