DEJAVU

No your not rereading the last post, I have finished another squad of wracks, this unit is all made from the plastic box sets that are available. I included a white barb on the faceplate to distinguish from the first squad.

I also then finished the raider for them to ride on.

I also managed to finish the third and final squad of wracks ( thought it better to get them all out of the way in one post !LOL) this squad has the leader and liquifier gun from the standard plastic box set, but as I had a lot of spare arms, face plates, and back humps from the three plastic box sets and the 5 finecast models I decided to utilise the parts and added them to Empire flagellant bodies to create some quite unique wracks. I also put a white barb on the faceplate of this squad but in a different position to the last.

I also finished the raider for this squad

Then I finished off the raider for the first squad I showed in the previous post.

The three vehicles were easy finishes as they just needed details to complete, the two squads were complete paints, but finishing the first set had revealed some quick ways to get them done.

When I originally set the unit challenge, I had planned to do bits and pieces from different ranges, but as my Dark Eldar sit on a shelving unit on my desk I see their unfinished state everyday, and will continue to focus on these for the rest of the month I think.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Wow! What a Dark Eldar painting machine you have become, Dave, LOL!!! Excellent stuff, and I especially love the blood cauldron on the vehicle. It looks particularly awesome :-)

    1. Thank you Simon, was definitely on a roll this week. The cauldron came from the old metal Cauldron of blood for the witch elves, which I thought would make an interesting addition

  2. Slow down your going to fast, I think that might be the opening line of a song Dave :) here are you heading for having a 2k pts army painted (to a very high standard) by the end of the challenge & all I've gotten done so far is to remove the bases & prime 5 models, embarrassed I am .lol

  3. I believe your right Frank, it might even be Meatloaf ! LOL These challenges should never make you feel embarrassed mate, we all work at different speeds, if you get 5 models done then that will be an achievement for you as you haven't wanted to paint much this year, and to me that will have achieved the purpose of the challenge, to get everyone painting.

    1. Fear not Dave, the speed & standards I do things to are set by myself not by what others do, but you are right about me when it comes to painting even at the best of times its a challenge :) anyway you be pleased to here that I'm now back in the hobby grove & have been working happily away at other things, which hopefully you'll see in the next movie one news later today :)

    2. Good to hear Frank, and excellent to hear you have your groove back.
With output it's very subjective, has a person who regularly paints 30+ models achieved more than someone who paints 5 models and hasn't painted anything for months, no if anything the person who only painted 5 models has achieved more in my book, but that's just the way I see it

  6. Wow ! You have been productive and all done to your usual standard of perfection. The vehicles (all new ot me of course) are pretty spectacular, befitting the force and I do like the colours incorporated into boh the figures and transports.

    1. Thank you Joe, was certainly on a roll last week, picked a harder unit this week, so not going as fast ! LOL
I do like the vehicles to tie in with the unit, makes them easier to identify on the table, plus I like the cohesion

    1. Thank you Iain, as they sit near my desk having more painted than not is motivating me more than seeing lots of bare plastic.

    1. Thank you Ivor, trying to push myself further for the challenge. wanted each raider to look unique but tie together as eventually each will have a character model assigned to the unit.

    1. Thank you Matt, once I'm in the groove painting this colour scheme it's relatively quick to paint, but if I'm not in the mood, it's a pain ! LOL
