SUMMER OF SCENERY CHALLENGE !

Over the past few years I've taken part in quite a few challenges, Forgotten Heroes twice, Monster May(hem), Models of Magnitude, to name a few, and will also be taking part in Jewel of July.
Now having taken part in quite a few I decided it's about time I ran one, as the summer months can be hard to motivate ourselves through, with warm weather making things difficult, and normally going off enjoying the sunshine, hobby falls to the wayside until the Autumn. With the restrictions of lockdown still in effect I thought let's make the most of this time to finish off some scenery, as scenery is often left til last as we have far too many models to finish.
So what's the parameters any piece of scenery that's started or new can be included (this could be the push to get that piece finally finished) and there is no size restriction either, it could be scatter scenery like azazelx's been working on, or a large structure like Harry's wonderful Windmill. The item can be a purchased item or a complete scratchbuild
Just because the title is Summer don't think you can't enter Autumn or Winter themed scenery, the more the merrier. I think we should also include vehicles as this can be used as strategic scenery pieces as well, and all genres are included, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, historical, if it's scenery it counts.
The event will start on the 1 st of July and run until the 31 st of August.
Probably my most favourite scenery piece
If you've got the time to do this much and want to, go for it
This frozen well shows a wintery feel
Just because it's small doesn't make it any less of a scenery piece
This vehicle has definitely become scenery
Above are a few examples of what I mean, if your interested in taking part, comment below so I can make sure to link to your pieces at the end in a roundup, and all I have left to say is I hope you'll join in, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Yep, I'm in, I've got a few idea's nothing definite yet but it's two months so I should be able to get at least a couple of things done. Raw materials is what's mucking me up at the minute.

Best of luck with this Dave, are you going to post it up on TMP?

    Cheers Roger.

Not sure why it's come up twice, but hopefully you might get one or two extra people from it. It's a good simple challenge after all.

    Cheers Roger.

  6. Dagnabit! I just finished some scenery projects (well, assembling and painting TW kits) and I will be otherwise occupied over the next 3 weeks but I love these challenges. I might be able to crank something out in August. I have some Renedra fencing I would like to get done...

    1. Welcome on board Harry, no problem on the mention, as your windmill looks excellent, and if it helps you finish other bits as well is a bonus

  8. I'll be in on this one for sure. I've got the 5 bits of Crashed Aquila on the Tray I've been struggling to finish as we speak, so it'll be an extra chunk of motivation if I can't get it done by the end of this month for Ann's challenge. I've also got some large tubines I've been wanting to do next tray, a herdstone to get finished, and a Mantic guard post.... thing I built sitting on the desk. Oh, and the Ophidian Archway. And then there's the smaller stuff like the Mantic tents, and god knows how many bits of scatter...

    1. Great to have you on board mate, sound's like you have plenty to contribute, and if it helps by a challenge to get them finished then that's a good thing, as your challenges have certainly helped clear my backlog

  15. I second Joes comments, I've never thought of doing a challenge, painting figures or making scenery and never followed one either so I'm probably not your man but I wish you well with it and if I change my mind I'll let you know.
Good luck and by the way you have some lovely pices posted above, especially the first one.

    1. No problem John, hopefully you'll follow along with this one, for me I've found the challenges useful, as I've finally finished models that have sat for far too long. Challenges aren't for everyone, and that's not a problem as we are all different.
Thank you, it was hard to pick just a few models to show, but went with a variety to show what I ment with the parameters.
