JOE PINEAPPLES

In the cross hairs of this post is Joe Pineapples, he has been a part of the warriors through all versions, and the best sniper, his look and the way he talks may have changed over the years but his marksmanship has never changed.
He has had some strange looks, but Clint Langley has returned him to the basic bare bones style, as robots go some consider him to be very cool, so much so he has human female girlfriends.

The model is another complete scratch build, and had a few challenges on the painting as his symbols looked more like painted on than 3D, but always happy to accept a challenge.
That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Joe is very cool, (even if he does have a human heart in his chest locker!), and you have done a cracking rendition of his here Dave, I glad you weren't tempted to do him wearing his ladies underwear! (strange turn of events that was!).

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, the ladies underwear was not even contemplated ! LOL was a very strange time indeed, did like the biker jacket version, but decided to stick with Clint's work. He has gone through a lot of changes over the years, and some of those bits added a lot to his character, others not so much !

  2. Oooo, nice job on a classic 2000AD character. I do not want to know what the ladies underwear thing is...

    1. Thank you Matt, he is a long running classic character, and probably just as well on the underwear as the garter and nipple straps were something you just can’t unsee ! lol

    1. Thank you Michael, he was the one I was least looking forward to making as he’s so iconic

  4. Another character of whom my only memory is the name, but you've created a great rendition of the character (compared to the comic strip photo). I'm not normally a fan of extra scenic items on a figure's base but the rock fits really well.

    1. Thank you Joe, I know what you mean about extra bits on bases as I try to avoid them as a rule, but certain poses require something to help

  5. Another fine bit of work Dave, you must be well pleased with how this lot is finally coming together.

    1. Thank you Frank, it’s great to be reaching the end of the Warriors, currently deciding what to make as an opposing force, wether to do Torquemada and his terminators or imperial Rottweilers or the volgan robots

  6. Excellent work, Dave. Had you not stated this was completely scratch-built, I would not have guessed. A very accurate depiction of the character.

    1. Thank you Jez, as I do this for a living, I thought it's the fairest way to participate in Forgotten Heroes. It would have certainly been quicker if I'd used the Foundry model, but they are long out of production, and would be against the rules of the event, plus their's were all based off the Kronichles of Khaos version

  7. You scratch-built this? You should consider trying your hand at sculpting professionally. You're pretty good!
Seriously, though, great work. I am unfamiliar with these characters, but I have to say "Joe Pineapples" is a terrific name. The base rock looks great because of the wide stance. Normally I'm also against bases with extra scenic stuff. I sent Jez an egregious example of such a while ago, and I was happy to be rid of it ( I think he was less happy to get it, particularly since it was a surprise.)

    1. Thank you Keith, I might consider taking up your suggestion ! LOL
It was a great name, I worked out Joe as Joe cool pretty quick but never worked out why the Pineapples ! For such a wide stance there is two ways of going about it, larger base or something to place the leading foot on, normally I'd just go with a bigger base, but having shot a sniper rifle went with the rock, as something solid to place your foot on to lean into gives a more stable base for the recoil, not that technically he'd need it being a robot sniper he'd probably have servos and pistons to deal with it.
Gifts can come in many shapes, and not always what we would have picked for ourselves, just adds to the challenge to find a use for in my book ! LOL

  11. I'm starting to guess you're comicacomic books are from a very different era than mine. The characters are kind of the same but seem to look very different.
It's a brilliant sculpt and I like the colour scheme.

    1. Thank you Wouter, the earlier era styles were very different indeed, still like them but Clint's versions are my favourite
