HAMMERSTEIN !

Next off the factory line is Hammerstein, he is one of only 3 robots to have appeared in every version of the Meknificent seven and was first introduced in Ro Busters in the comic Star Lord with a different head and hammer. In the storyline he was the first war robot built and put into service, and he believes he  is the leader of the A.B.C. Warriors, although in a lot of the storylines you would think it was Deadlock or Steelhorn, but that's an argument for them.

The model is a complete scratch build using Greenstuff and plastic rod, now before anyone says "Dave he's supposed to be brown, you would be correct, apart from Clint Langley's version where he coloured him in a blue grey, and as I've sculpted his version I stuck with his colour scheme. Although it's hard to see in the pictures I did include the extra arm sockets, so at a later date I can make these and put them on the model if I want to.
If I hope to finish all of them by the end of the month I need to be doing roughly 2 a week so need to get a move on.
That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Nice work on both Hammerstein and Zippo - although I'm not familiar with the latter, as my reading of 2000AD wasn't as religious as other comic books. And if anyone complains about the colour, just say "well, you can paint YOURS whatever colour you want... what's that? It's a unique sculpt that no-one else owns? Guess I can paint it whatever I dsmn well please then..."

    1. Thank you Jez, I only knew of Zippo from collecting the graphic novels, as I stopped reading 2000 ad a long time ago.
Indeed I could have painted him pink if I had desired, but just wanted to explain my colour choice.

  2. Nice job, I've no knowledge of the comics but it looks like he is generic enough for any scenario involving a robot or mechanoid.

    1. Thank you John, your absolutely right he could be used in any situation, as with most models, just depends what the individual want's to do with them.

    1. Thank you Michael, he's one of the characters that sometimes I liked what he was doing and others not so much. He's a bit like captain America in his thoughts and actions, only one route is possible, which isn't a bad thing if you like that in a character.

  5. Great sculpting and painting there Dave, I prefer him in his c=grey scheme too. I have to agree with you over his character, I preferred that in the earlier comics, I think he had a tendency to be the "butt" of the joke later on, like when Blackblood was supposed to be using him as a generator for years.

But then I was always a Mongrol person myself!

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, the blue grey grows on you and it’s the colour I’ve seen in the last 7 novels so used to it now.
Some of the characters have changed in the different stories and not always for the better, glad they’re back on track at the moment !
Mongrel was an excellent character and another of the 3 to appear in every rendition

  6. I'm in awe of people who can use greenstuff to sculpt their own minis. I can barely use it to fill gaps. These look great, and bring back good memoires of reading 2000AD in the 80s!

    1. Thank you Matt, it's what I do for a job so have an advantage, it's a bit like any other aspect of the hobby, the more you practice the better you get, and if you ever want any pointers, just ask more than happy to help.
Glad I could bring back some good memories for you, as I always enjoyed reading the comics myself, and always wanted a set to go on the gaming table, but was never completely happy with any of the models that have been released, this way I get exactly what I want and all the variations ( which no company has done so far ! )

    1. Thank you Joe, your not wrong on the height, as he has been depicted at so many, I went for taller than all but Mek Quake Steelhorn and just slightly taller than Mongrel.
His image has certainly changed over the years
