SKINKS GALORE

To clear a bit of space on my desk I've finished my squad of Skink skirmishers ( hence the round bases), these are expensive skirmishers as I gave them javelins instead of blowpipes, as they have better range and strength, at some point I need to make a regiment of them as well, but that will have to wait until I get some more models, as these are the last of the Lizardmen models I currently have.

The box comes with 24 models, but I used a champion model that I converted from the Stegadon set to bring it up to 25 models. At some point I expect GW to change the names of these as a Skink is a real lizard, and so they can not copyrite it, but we'll have to see what they do, hopefully next time I'll have some bits to set up one of my Monster May(hem) entries, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

    1. Thank you snapfit, the colour scheme was inspired by a Salamander I saw, which I then added to with the red as the mark of Sotek. If I want to make it back into a full army, I'll need a lot more models, but that is way down the list of models wanted or required ! LOL

  2. Loving these brightly painted lizards. I would say they were cute, but some suspect they pack quite a punch.

    1. Thank you Michael, I always find lizards cute ! LOL Of all the lizardmen races these pack the smallest punch, it's their numbers that get you ! LOL

    1. Thank you Stewart, indeed, although real lizards seem to have no interest in playing dress up ! LOL

    1. Thank you Suber, I like them a lot, I did notice the other day that my three favourite armies all share the same palette, just different variations of it, with the lizardmen, Kroot, and Night Hawks, all using black, blue and red ! LOL

  5. Great looking skinks, the red and blue work very nicely together, I need to paint my 30 or so that I have left haha.

    1. Thank you SD, they certainly do take some time to get them done, these have been three quarters finished since I was painting the rest, and just kept falling to the back of the queue ! LOL

  6. Excellent work on these classic sculpts! Even if you've never painted Lizardmen, its impossible not to like them! I think you're right that soon they'll be known as Skincks or something similar for important lore reasons ;)

    1. Thank you Jeff, the sculpts didn't change much between version 1, and version 2, the biggest thing being slightly bigger, and multi part plastics, ment a lot more variation as well ! LOL Of course for lore reasons, not that a little company could sell a lizardmen called Skinks ! LOL

  7. Wonderful colourful work on the skinks, Dave. Tbh, a box containing 20+ minis these days scares me to death, LOL!! As that's a lot of hobby time to be used up at the pace I paint these days.

    1. Thank you Simon, it can be a daunting prospect, I think I did the bulk of the work as a whole, then when I got to the details I did them in batches of 5, just to make it more manageable ! LOL

I'm lagging behind a bit again Dave! These are really nice minis with all that colour! I think they look good carrying javelins!

    1. Thank you John, no worries mate, easily done. Lizards can have amazing colour schemes, so I thought why not translate that to these Fantasy ones ! LOL

  9. Nice work, you can't go wrong with that color combination. Congrats on getting the last of them done (for now)! I think GW should rename them Sleestaks! ;D

    1. Thank you Brian, as it seems to be my go to colours I'm glad they work ! LOL I have found some swarms which I need to get done, then I'll need some more models ! LOL You'll have to watch and see if they use that, then you can claim copyright on it ! LOL

  10. Unfortunately, I would get sued! The Sleestaks were humanoid reptile creatures from an old kids show "Land of the Lost". They were pretty poorly done by today's standards, but TV budgets for a kids show were not like what we have now! ;)

    1. Yes we have to go very careful when naming creatures, why whenever I make up one, I always run it through Google, just to make sure no one else had the same idea ! LOL The budget on kids shows now are the sort of budget that adult series used to have ! LOL
