BIG GUNS

No I'm not talking AC/DC's song that was used in "Last Action Hero", although I do like a bit of AC/DC to listen to, but the total lack of Super Heavies for the Dark Eldar army, this has been the case through all versions of the codex, and 1 st edition didn't even have flyers until Forgeworld did some which then got added in 2 nd edition. All the other armies have had super heavies available, either in Epic, or through Forgeworld, and some have had them in codex and mainstream GW production.

To combat this for my own army I came up with the Darkstar this super heavy uses the dark energy technology that the Dark Eldar are renowned for but on a bigger scale, it is armed with two disintegrators as it's secondary weapons for while it's moving into position, then it uses the Darkstar cannon, this weapon generates up a large ball of Dark Energy while stationary, and then propels the energy ball with a reverse engine burst to propel it forward.

To make the model I used 4 original raider models, a couple of prism generators from the Eldar range, and some of the add ons from the kit, plus some plasticard. I'm afraid Roger I have no construction pics, as I'd already started painting bits while still in construction.

As you can see from above I've done it in my Kabal colours, and has now finished this army, still have some beasts to make and paint for my Wych army, and need to get a new raider, and then that will be all 3 Dark Eldar armies finished. That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

As regular visitors to this blog will know, I don't do much on Historical gaming for myself, and tend to do more Sci-Fi or Fantasy, that's not to say I haven't worked on historical stuff before, my first client when I started the company was MJ Figures and I worked on his Falklands range and built his Georgians and Jackal crew. So when a fellow blogger asked me if I would do a conversion for him, I jumped at the chance. Dave also known as Guru Pig over at phillipislandgamingsociety asked if I could convert a Matilda Tank to the Hedgehog variant, he sent over lots of reference pictures (very useful), after agreeing a price, Dave got a tank sent to me to work on, this came from Warlord Games. I only assembled the main body of the tank and tracks, as I needed the whole back section to be able to do the conversion, I used a mix of Plasticard and Greenstuff to create the piece as seen below.

The one are Dave's reference pictures didn't cover was the rear view, luckily on a Google search I found a larger scale model kit that covered this, here are some of the reference pictures to see what it should look like.

Dave will be showing the painted version on his blog once done. That's all for this short post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

SPECIAL EFFECT

Over the years building dioramas in store displays, I'd built a few Psychic powers in 3D and always thought it would be cool to have some for gaming. Recently I saw Mick on twitchybristles do something similar for his Eldar, which reminded me I'd started one a long time ago. The psychic power I've gone for is The Avenger, the codex says the Librarian draws on the ancient legends of his chapter to create a destructive avatar of roiling flame. The psychic construct billows forward, leaving destruction in it's wake. As my chapter symbol is a hawk, I started with a small Eagle model and then added flames to give the effect as described.

I've built it so it will work with several of my Librarian models perfectly for their pose, but it would be fine with the other poses as well, in gaming terms. This now has made another space on the desk, so clearing out these old projects is going well. That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !

SNOW PATROL

No I'm not talking about the band, I'll leave the music Monday's to Justin on thesolomeeple no I'm talking about finally finishing my Imperial Snowtroopers I got back in Christmas 2021. As I'm not currently doing much with snow, these have been taking up space on my desk for over a year, but I  decided to get them done and out the way, these are the last 5 I needed to do as I had done the sixth as a test piece last year.

As you can see above I now have something to photograph any snow themed models on (see I do pay attention Simon ! LOL), now your feeling all cold I'll warm you back up by jumping back to Tatooine with a dirty beat up Gonk power droid, this is only my third one of this type of droid, so wiull still need to do some more at some point including a four legged version.

I'm going to be away from the computer for the next couple of days, so will catch up on comments and posts on my return, nothing to worry about, just a treat for my youngest, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

ONCE A SCOUNDREL, ALWAYS A SCOUNDREL

Today I have a model of Cikatro Vizago, who played a big part in "Star Wars Rebels" series for anyone who doesn't know the character or series, this is what Wookieepedia has to say about him :

"Business is all that matters. But I love that you don't know that."

―Cikatro Vizago[5]

Cikatro Vizago was a male Devaronian crime lord who ran the Broken Horn Syndicate on the planet Lothal during the reign of the Galactic Empire. Vizago's operations included smuggling and extortion, with his rule backed by dangerous IG-RM bodyguard and enforcer droids. On several occasions, Vizago employed the rebel crew of the starship Ghost, who performed several smuggling runs in exchange for either credits or Imperial intelligence.

The Devaronian crime lord also possessed various acquaintances, such as fellow crime boss Azmorigan and the human smuggler Lando Calrissian. Despite his shady dealings, Vizago helped Ezra Bridger rescue his master Kanan Jarrus from Imperial captivity after the latter identified himself as a Jedi. Vizago and Calrissian later abandoned Lothal after a skirmish with Imperial stormtroopers in the dilapidated village of "Tarkintown." Sometime later, Vizago temporarily lost control of his own ship to the pirate Hondo Ohnaka, and was forced to call in Bridger's favor in order to retake it.

The Specters later solicited Vizago's help in smuggling them into Lothal. As punishment, Vizago was sentenced to penal labor aboard the Mining Guild ore crawler Crawler 413-24. Vizago cross paths with the Spectres, who freed him and the other slaves. Out of gratitude, Vizago joined the Rebellion. He contributed to the Liberation of Lothal by helping Mart Mattin and Wolffe to summon a pod of purrgil to attack Grand Admiral Thrawn's Seventh Fleet.

I've tried to match the colours as best as I can to the reference picture I've included below.

Now where did I get this model, as many of you will already have guessed it's another scratchbuild, other than the hands which were spare from a previous model, construction pictures are below.

Still got some more models I'd like to get finished for the challenge, but will have to see how far I get, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

MAGIC BLUNDER

Today I have some more commission pieces to show, the first one is a simple ruined corner that my client wanted to be able to use as simple cover, so I kept the inner section clear to allow models to hide in it and added more detail on the outside.

Looks like there may have been a scuffle here with all these footprints
Nothing is sacred in this realm as someone stole his boots

I had a feeling he would want snow on the walls but I left it off so he could decide which wall he wanted it on.

Here are the construction pictures so you can see the materials used.

The next piece I did was a magic disk for him to represent a magic spell.

He liked the first one and asked for four more, each being different.

He wasn't keen on the coloured glows so asked if I could turn them to just stone coloured, which I happily obliged.

Luckily I'd made all the symbols different as that was one of the criteria for them, that they were all different, which was why I'd done the different colour glows, to make it easy to distinguish between them at a glance. That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

CAREFUL THIS ONE HAS TEETH

Today I have a Fang Fighter which is the smaller craft the Mandalorians use, this one has no troop carrying capacity like the Kom'rk fighter does, but is a single man fighter. So far it has only appeared in the cartoon series, but hopefully will get a live action appearance before too long. The colour scheme I've gone for would work with either Clan Kyze or the Protectors. This was an anniversary gift from my wife, our anniversary isn't until next week, but as she had already had her gift, thought it was only fair I had mine early also.

The model is a 3D print, and came with a closed and open cockpit, and also landing gear down and up options, shown above with landing gear down and open cockpit, as I need to design a base that will hold the ship from the central engine at the rear to allow the wings to still rotate. Looked at traditional art to try a different method for painting the glass, not sure about it, think I've left too much solid white, but lessons learned so was a worth while experiment. That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

A MANDALORIAN WITH A JETPACK IS A WEAPON

Todays post is my entry for Fembruary, the four female Mandalorians from the set I got for Christmas, the first one is Ursa Wren the current leader of clan Wren, and Sabine's mother, I've tried to follow the colours and markings as exactly as I could.

The next is a unnamed member of Clan Wren, but I've followed some artwork I found.

Next I have Bo-Katan Kryze, the current leader of clan Kryze, and at one point ruler of all of Mandalore at the end of the Clone Wars.

For the clan Kryze follower, I've gone with the one shown in the series "The Mandalorian" and was played by a wrestler Sasha Banks who was part of the WWE at the time of filming.

That's all the Mandalorian models I have at this time finished, and wraps up this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
