Back when I showed my sons Alien Newborn, I mentioned I had another distraction that I couldn't show until the recipient had received the gift, well as Christmas has been and gone I can now reveal the Succubus I converted and painted for my daughters partner. The original plan was I would do the conversion, then she would come up and paint the model, time moving house and other factors ment that in the end I ended up painting it as well. The colour choices and details were down to fan art of the online character they have, Have included one of these below so you can see the details I needed to include.
Cheers Dave
Now I do like that conversion (though I bet you knew I was going to say that didn't you?), when you say it's based on Fanart of a "character they have" what exactly do you mean? Is this a character created by them then?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Reapers "Sofie" to start with 😉.
Cheers Roger.
Thank you Roger, the original model comes with less clothes but as they wanted to have the model on show for live streaming, it needed to have no nudity ! LOL The original model came from Etsy, wasn't impressed by the casting, as a lot of the fingers on the hands of the throne were missing. The character is indeed one they came up with, and the fan art was based off their idea.
ReplyDeleteAlmost has a Kil la Kil feel to the character.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, I like her, sassy and matches quite well to the art.
Thank you Dai, I have to admit that is a character I have not heard of ! LOL The hardest part was taking the anime art and actually translating it onto a better proportioned model ! LOL
DeleteI don't know the original model, so when you say you had to cover the nudity, I'm having a hard time to tell what's greenstuff and what's the mini itself. I mean it as a total compliment, it's a gorgeous work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, that is high praise indeed, I thought I'd kept the model promo photo, but couldn't find it when I came to post ! LOL The bit that was the most fun for me was painting the lava base and trying to get all the colours into it.
DeleteThat is certainly a saucy succubus and a Japanese inspired one no less! :) I think you did a great job with the miniature and kept it tasteful too. Even succubae have to leave something to the imagination after all!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, the original model didn't leave anything to the imagination, so she needed some clothing even if minimal ! LOL Anime isn't a style I like but others do, so had to try and tie the two together.
DeleteVery nice, Dave! :-) Funnily enough I was admiring the lava and then saw your comment about it! I like the way her hair colours match up with the anime figure - a nice touch!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, I got several reference pictures to get the colours right ! LOL I was lucky and had the relevant colours to match it.
DeleteThat is one incredible looking creature and I'm pretty sure the recipient was immensely pleased and amazed as I am.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, they did seem pleased when they opened the box, and spotting the details of their character were on there.
DeleteHaha, reminds me of so many times the youngest wants to start something, but then I'm supposed to finish it. Guess that never changes?! I don't know the original model, but looks like some nice work there! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian, it never changes mate, just the projects may get bigger ! LOL
