FORGOTTEN HEROES 2021 Part 2

 REBEL FACTIONS

As I continue on with submissions for Jez's forgotten-heroes-2021 I wanted to look at some of the other Rebel factions as well as the crime syndicates. When we were first introduced to Star Wars, it was a tale of two sides, Imperial or Rebels. Later on through series and additional films, we found that not all Rebels were the same, and some were even considered radicals like Saw Gerrera.

Saw was originally shown in the film Rogue One, then appeared in the Clone Wars series, and also appeared in the series Star Wars Rebels, more recently he has appeared in The Bad Batch as well.

For the time period I've set my gaming, I've gone with the shaved head version, and he hasn't got all the cybernetic implants that you see in Rogue One.

some of the details on the armour were painted on rather than sculpted in detail.

Another Rebel Faction we got introduced to was Enfys Nest and her Windriders, these appeared in the movie Solo, and were portrayed as thieves, until late in the movie.

The sculpt on this one had lots of little details that needed to be added, to give the overall look.

As with Saw some details were painted on, and gave me lots of opportunity to work on my freehand.

that's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Very nice work on both miniatures Dave, love all the little details (and know what a pain they are to do!), I didn't know Saw was in the "Bad batch", I didn't register that it was the same character as Rogue one (I'm obviously not paying enough attention when I watch it!).

Oh you'll know then, is the female bounty hunter after the Bad Batch the same character who's with Bobo Fett in the Mandalorian?

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, as you sculpt I thought you could appreciate how fiddly some of those details would be.
It is indeed the same character, just very early on in her career. Dave Filloni does like to tie characters in within several story arcs, so you see a lot more of their story, and sometimes why they become the person they are

    3. No problem Roger, the character is even voiced by the same actress, which doesn't always happen. I very much consider you a sculptor mate

    1. Thank you Iain, she's my favourite to. Been putting off making this one since I first saw the movie, glad to finally have it done

  3. Two wonderful sculpts of memebers from factions I'd never heard of (nor the characters for that matter).
Easily recognised as to who they are in the photographs too - congratulations, great entires/

    1. Thank you Joe, if Star Wars isn't your thing, it is very easy to not know of the characters, so will always try and remember to put in some reference for those that don't know. Was pleased with Efys, but wasn't as happy with Saw, who knows I may revisit this sculpt at some point.

  4. A pair of absolute beaut’s Dave! Very nicely done!

Saw actually originally appears in the clone wars series prior to rogue one as a young revolutionary with his sister fighting against the separatists (I think his sister dies or some such, or maybe his hyper violent stance caused a split between the two? I don’t remember.)

    1. Thank you Dai, glad you like them.
Indeed your right, a young Saw was first in Clone Wars, before being in Rogue One, and his sister was indeed killed by a Separatist gunship which Saw had shot down and put her in that position, hence his strong stance on war and sacrifice. His brutality and willingness to put the cause first before lives was shown in Star Wars Rebels, which led to his split from the main Rebellion.

    2. Heck I’d forgotten about his role in Rebels. Thanks for the reminder Dave!

    3. No problem mate, I do like how they have been connecting up the time lines from the prequels right up to the Mandolorian.

  5. Awesome as always, Dave!

I really need to watch Star Wars again (and in some cases, for the first time). Your stuff this year has inspired me to get with the program and watch everything according to the timeline. I rewatched Phantom Menace last night: onto Attack of the Clones (groan) and then Clone Wars (which I've never seen, but apparently explains the majority of Revenge of the Sith).

One thing I definitely need to do is watch Rogue One again. It's supposedly one of the best films but I was pretty drunk when I watched it, so I don't remember Saw!

  6. Thank you Keith, glad you like them.
Clone Wars does explain a lot about Revenge of the Sith, make sure to watch the Clone Wars film first before the series. Then you have Revenge of the Sith, followed by Solo, then Star Wars Rebels, straight into Rogue One and then the original trilogy. Obviously Bad Batch fits between Revenge of the Sith and Solo, but the whole series isn't available yet. Just a few hours of watching ! LOL

  7. Excellent work on both those guys, I think Nest is my fave as she's got a sort of Realm Of Chaos/Mad Max look about her. Also I could have sworn that Saw's name is Sol Guerra but apparently I've been wrong ever since seeing Rogue One LOL!

Seriously, once again you've knocked it out of the park with your obsession to sculpt every Star Wars character :-)

    1. Thank you Matt, she's my favourite to. Easily done on the names Matt, as depending on who's saying it can have a bit of a accent to it, if I'm ever unsure of a name I look it up on Wookiepedia.
Only sculpting the ones I can't purchase that I would like in my gaming ! LOL

  8. Now you're getting into some heavy hitters! I really thought Saw was a revolutionary character in Rogue One as Star Wars is typically pretty black and white with morality. Enfys Nest was a cool character as well. Such a great visual design! You did a great job sculpting these two and painting them up. You're going to have a whole hive of scum and villainy on your tabletop soon :D

    1. Thank you Jeff, the depth of his character was huge, and the extra background you learned through the cartoon series added more levels. I did like how the character was portrayed as a marauder from one point of view, then as a rebel from another. Hopefully so mate

  9. Great stuff Dave! Really like how you went with an earlier version of Saw (despite how cool the later iteration is) 😀
Looking forward to seeing what's next in the queue.

    1. Thank you Ivor, as I have the Star wars Rebels team, I thought having a version that was around in the same timeline made sense. Not long to wait mate should have a couple more up soon

  10. Nice! Love all the details on these two as well. I'm wanting to start watching The Bad Batch, but I feel like I need to slog my way through all 732 episodes of Clone Wars first before I do so...

    1. Thank you Azazel, there is a lot of clone wars to get through ! LOL You could just watch the Bad Batch, then catch up later, but a lot of the characters that are appearing do show up in the Clone Wars first, except one who you will have met in the Mandolorian
