A NEW ERA

For my Birthday my inlaws got me a box of Star Wars Legion Clone Wars era. Now I've always liked the idea of large battles in the Star Wars universe, but didn't want to restart what I'd already done with Imperial assault, but a different era didn't matter that the scale was different.

This week I've got the test pieces for each faction painted, first was Obi Wan, but I've just realised I haven't finished his equipment belt, so need to rectify that.

I decided to paint my clone troopers in the markings of the 212 th to compliment Obi Wan

General Grievous was next and went with the two light sabre option as I really wanted to paint his cloak

Next was a B1 battle droid

And the last test piece was an open Droideka, the box comes with two of these, and two in rolling form

The model detail is very good, but some of the parts are very fiddly, and the material is a form of plastic that doesn't work well with plastic glue, but works better with super glue.

That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Wonderful looking models, all of whom I'm unknwledgeable of, so can't really comment on their colours, ut hte painting does look excellent.

  2. As said above lovely models, though not my favourite trio of movies in the series, I can see how the big battles would be appealing.

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, indeed my favourite trio is the original trilogy, then the prequels, the last three I don't bother with as they were just remakes of the originals that were badly done in my opinion.
Seemed the most sense for big battles with the whole Clone wars, whereas 4,5, and 6 seemed more like small skirmishes

    1. Thank you Frank, bit of experimenting to get the right colour tones, but should be easy enough to replicate

  4. First, Happy Birthday. You have the coolest in-laws in the world if they buy you miniatures as gifts. Great work on these as always, Dave. I have been resistant to buy any Star Wars Legion stuff; in part because like you I already bought Imperial Assault. Even prior to the pandemic, I couldn't get my friends to put their butts in seats long enough to play more than one game of that...also, I have decided that I have more than enough miniatures for my needs and I should focus on what I have, not what I want.
    You believe me, right?

    1. Thank you Keith, my wife is very good in quietly listening to all my ramblings about models I'd like then passing on the information to others so I get presents I'd like (occasionally you pinches my lists as well ! LOL).
Legion wasn't really on the radar for me when it first came out as I was already heavily invested in Imperial assault and didn't want to duplicate, as they were different scales ( saying that the scale in Imperial Assault isn't consistent)
As for having enough models, could we ever really have enough ! LOL

  6. They look good without the reference pictures to help we Starwars Phobes, you are certainly knocking stuff out at a tremendous rate of knots.
