COME FLY WITH ME !

Why is it the Rebellion keeps sending me on missions to desert worlds when my homeworld is aquatic ! Don't they realise how bad for my skin this is !

So I did indeed get an A-Wing for my birthday, along with a new Dremel, as my old one was seriously dying, and a gift from my inlaws which I will cover in a later post, once I've got something to show.

The model was an easy kit by Revell, so went together really quick, which ment more time to concentrate on the painting, using the experiments on the ARC 170 I built the weathering up with lots of layers of glaze black over the colour scheme I had painted, with adding a few areas of pure wash to darken certain bits.

The kit came with lights and sound, so I didn't have to do much with the engine.

Above is the reference picture I used for the colour scheme, as Palitoy released an A-Wing toy specifically for Si Mon.

That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. You've got a good handle on the weathering Dave, & that's a nice little model.
Have you got a sitting & a standing version on the model or does he stand when in the ship ?

    1. Thank you Frank, weathering was one of those things I avoided as I wasn't sure what to do, but now I'm enjoying it, really need to look at weathering powders at some point.
I actually hadn't considered that point Frank, I do have the pilot figure that came with the model which I could convert up to be Si Mon, so thanks for the idea

  3. Another smashing model, Dave, and as usual the weathering and paint is top-notch. I have to admit that the A-Wing is one of my fave Star Wars ships next to the X-Wing and this one looks excellent.

    1. Thank you Matt, to be honest I like most of the ships from the original trilogy and quite a lot of the prequels, the only ones I'm not bothered with is the last trilogy. Eventually I'd like to have an B-Wing and Y-Wing in the right scale for the rebels and a TIE interceptor, TIE bomber and Imperial shuttle to add for scenarios and different storylines but will take a lot of searching ! LOL

  4. Lovely work as always Dave, though I was never that keen on the A wing design, I have to say the Y wing was always my favourite ship followed by the X wing of course.

    Cheers Roger.
