This week I've managed to get the tent and campfire, moulded and painted, so is now ready to go on the site for sale.
For the tent I've gone with a blue colour scheme for this one, but there is so many colours you could do them.
The campfire was simple enough to paint, and I used washes and glazes to add colour to the flames, to help keep the translucent feel of the resin.
While I had the above pieces in the moulds, I also got some spaceships moulded that Roger has been patiently waiting for me to finish. The first one above is the hornet, short range pursuit craft, inspired by the ships in the old TV series Blake's 7 for the Federation.
Next is the Tarantula class long range pursuit craft, also inspired by the Federation ships.
Last one today is the Liberation class alien corvette, this is a medium class battleship, and was inspired by the Liberator, from the TV series, although I wanted to go for a more alien technology look than the original. I cast this in translucent green to help the painting of the orb at the back.
That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Great to see the starships finally getting a lick of paint, Dave. I'd have thought they are all instantly recognisable to any fans of the TV series :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, glad you like them, at least that means I've got the style right with the ships ! LOL
DeleteExcellent stuff Dave, and it's awesome to see the Liberator, which is one of my all-time fave spaceships. The tent looks great and you've painted the fire so realistically. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt, it was such an iconic ship when it came out. Was happy with the tent, and the fire, really trying to push the natural look on things at the moment.
DeleteNice work Dave, hopefully all your work will result in plant of sales 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you Frank, can but hope ! LOL
DeleteTent looks great but the Liberator and the Federation ships are splendid!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, I do like the ships myself, but from a business perspective the tent is more versatile
DeleteI concur, I was saying how much I liked the tent, but the ships stole the show :D Fantastic work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, I've got another ship i progress, but that one will be a while off, with all the panel work required
DeleteDone tent looks like one I had for Reading Rock Festival in 2000. And consequently left behind as someone had stolen the roof and I think I vomited inside it the final night of the weekend… those crazy 20’s days.
ReplyDeleteLove the starships! I know I watched Blakes 7 when I was a lad but Damned if I can remember more than just the mail ship from the show.
Thank you Dai, I must have done something right to invoke such a vivid memory ! LOL
DeleteI've actually been watching it recently, so it's all fresh for me, but I didn't like all the ships in the series, some of the one episode ones weren't great
It's about blooming time! (lol) Seriously they all look great, love the dome tent and I feverishly trying to think of a reason to buy one (give me time 🤔). Now the spaceship I think I've gone off the idea now (nah just kidding!), got to get some of them, now what I will say is do you want me to hold off ordering so you have stock for Salute, this is fine with me as (you know) I'm booked up painting wise till probably the end of the year, if you like I can order/pay for them now and you can send them out once you can replenish your stocks (In a Kickstarter type way). I'll take 2 Liberators 3 Tarantulas and 4 Hornets, let me know what you'd like.
ReplyDeleteCheers Roger.
LOL Roger, getting the right mood to work on them was a pain, but glad they're done now. As for the order, if you don't mind waiting until after Salute, that would be brilliant, as I still have a lot of casting to get done ! LOL
DeleteNo problem, if you want, just give me a shout when you're ready (I mean I've waited this long 😁). Do you want me to pay for them now?
ReplyDeleteCheers Roger.
LOL, I'll send you an invoice, when I'm ready to send them mate.
DeleteOkeydokey.
DeleteNo problem mate, never like to take peoples money, until I know I can deliver !
DeleteIts nice to see the terrain painted up and the ships look great. Do you take crazy requests? :) I'd like to see someone make a mini or model of Nero's ship in the Star Trek reboot. Man, that is a cool looking ship! Probably a pain to try and sculpt though based on its shape.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, glad you liked the scenery. Being crazy myself, crazy requests, seem normal ! LOL The trick is how to make it close enough that people recognise it, without getting lawsuits, if making it for production, also it would depend on how large you wanted it.
DeleteTents look good Dave, Love those ships. I have Blake 7 on my to watch list at some point!
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, glad you like them. Just coming up to season 3 this week, so hope you enjoy when you watch it.
DeleteGreat paint-jobs on the tent and fire, but sadly I only recognised the liberator out of all the spacecraft !
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, no worries on recognising the ships, as these are my own interpretations of them, rather than exact copies of the original material.
DeleteI frikkin' love these spaceships. Sorry. I couldn't find anything more eloquent to say. It's true, though. I love your retro spaceships, Dave. Not familiar with the TV show, but it's a name I keep reading on the blogs I visit. I should hunt it down...
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith, the comment made me smile ! LOL Was a big hit in the 70's in the UK, and we get reruns every so often, the costumes are dated now, the actor Paul Darrow, who played Avon, was trying to get a remake started but never got very far before he passed away. The story was great though and still holds up now
DeleteVery cool, Dave - always impressed by your talent in sculpting!
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazel, need to keep pushing, and hopefully get some more sales ! LOL
