Been working on several commissions lately, and thought I'd share some doorways I've been doing, the first one is a bulkhead door, effectively this is the outside wall for a hanger bay, I've made the doors moveable as you will see below.
Next is a standard doorway that will be at the ends of corridors and also used as entry points for rooms, the first picture shows without locking and communication points, the second one with. The doors slide up so you can have them open or closed.
After some of my recent posts I was asked if I could show some fleet pictures for my Star Wars ships, so here is the Imperial fleet I've amassed.
Below is my Rebel Ships.
As you can see above, I've had to do a repair on my X-Wing as it got damaged when we moved house, and you will also notice my U-wing is suffering with droop on it's wings, so I will need to take them apart and add some strengthening rods so this wont happen again. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Unbelievable. That kind of sliding doors have been in my dreams for ages. I'm amazed. Ouch, sorry for your U-Wing, how are you planning to solve the issue and straighten them up?
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, doors can seem tricky but once you break it down they can be fairly easy. Should have expected it with the U-Wing, first I will bend the plastic back to straight, then break the bottom panel off, and then resin in a metal rod to reinforce the wings.
DeleteGreat work on the doors, things like that really add character.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the ship shots. That's a very impressive collection you're building up.
Thank you misterc, hopefully it should be a great set up for my client, with lots of versatility.
DeleteNice work on the doors, Dave! :-) I like the backdrop to the hangar doors, a really nice detail! Nice to see all those ships! I'm surprised to see the droop on the wings, so hope you can fix them - I hate it when things like that happen and we have to try and sort it out!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, thought it would help sell the whole piece. It's a pretty good collection, just would like an Imperial Shuttle to finish it off, should be a easy enough fix when I have the time ! LOL
DeleteThere's nothing worse than a flaccid U-Wing LOL! Shame it's a bit droopy, hope the fix won't be too much of a hassle.
ReplyDeleteYour bulkheads and doors are flippin brill Dave. Excellent stuff.
Thank you Dai, apparently it can be quite common in older ships ! LOL Shouldn't be too hard, just need to get some epoxy resin to start it.
DeleteI always seem to come up with my best work for other people ! LOL
that's very creative with the sliding doors. 😁
ReplyDeleteThank you Stewart, love putting in these sort of details for clients.
DeleteThose are some fun doors, always nice when you can interact with terrain in game. Now we really need to see a large scale X-Wing game haha.
ReplyDeleteThank you SD, when it's for a customer always try to add an extra bit ! LOL I would need an extra large black cloth to layout across the garden to be able to play that ! LOL
DeleteVery nice work on the doors! The hazard stripes (I can't think of the name for them) makes me think Necromunda but the background has me thinking it must be for a traditional Sci-Fi game instead. That is quite a fleet you've assembled. Surely a Star Destroyer and the Executor can't be far behind! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, yes GW do use a lot of chevrons in Necro, but a lot of old sci-fi did as well in the 80's mostly low budget ! LOL My client want's these for playing Stargrave.
DeleteDon't think my rooms big enough for either of those in this scale, but an Imperial shuttle would fit in quite nicely ! LOL
those bulkhead doors are just brilliant Dave, nice one
ReplyDeleteThank you Andy, I always tend to do my best work when it's for someone else ! LOL
