DIE JEDI DIE

"Oh my, what did I just say " yes I finally have got round to the 3PO conversion that was seen in Attack of the clones episode 2, I used one of the B1 battle droids I already had, plus the 3PO model that came with the drop pod kit for Legion, the head swap was easy enough, but the 3PO arms needed a lot of moving to hold the blaster, and I had to sculpt the hands onto the weapon. you will notice that the B1 parts are lighter than the reference pictures because all my B1's are painted in the episode 1 colour scheme.

While I was doing droids I also painted up the R2 that came with the pod as well, but painted it as QT-KT of the D-Squad from the cartoon Clone Wars series, I still need to do R2-D2 for this squad but want him stood on two legs.

Last today I've also done a R5 to sit in my Y-Wing I finished recently, it is removable, depending on whether I want  an astromech or not depending on the scenario.

That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Ha what a fun model! The hands blend in very well, wouldn’t have guessed they were sculpted. The pink in the droid is super vibrant!

    1. Thank you SD, I had to do some work on the shoulders as well, so have got away with quite a bit ! LOL The top coat is Vallejo Squid Pink which is pretty vibrant.

  2. A whole load of droid goodness on show! (And I love it!) QT is my fav of this lot though - she really is a cute character.

    1. Thank you Dai, quite a varied bunch, and QT was based off a R2 unit done in memory of a child lost to cancer, as she was a huge Star Wars fan.

    2. Yup - I recall when they announced that. So sad, but lovely by Disney to ensure her memory lives on.

    1. Thank you Iain, the work needed on the 3PO body was the biggest roadblock ! LOL

  8. Its one of the most moving and well-regarded scenes in movie history to be sure! I remember it well and it is the kind of goofy fun I enjoy in Star Wars. The miniatures look fantastic and I immediately knew what they referenced when I saw them. You've now given me an idea to give back to you. I want to see a diorama of the arena from you next, Dave! That would be some seriously impressive work, if you could pull that off!

    1. Thank you Jeff, For me it always raised the question, was the B1 corrupting 3PO, or was there some latent hate as his maker abandoned him ! LOL Your idea is a very cool one, but the shear size of that, and how many models I would need makes it prohibitive, it would lead to bankruptcy or divorce or both ! LOL

    2. It would be massive in scale which means a lot of time and cost. I think the repetition of filling the stands with Geonosians would probably be the hardest part to actually complete...

    3. It would certainly be labour intensive, as all the models available are currently stood ! LOL

  9. Outstanding job on them!!
