INTERCEPTOR

No I am not talking the last of the V8's today, but my favourite version of the TIE fighter, this model is a 3D resin print that my good friend Dai found on Etsy ( you are a absolute legend mate) the model comes with a stand, that I have a bit of a problem with, not only does the TIE not sit on it well, but would make it imposssible for the pilot to get in ! LOL So I'm going to use this as a platform for the pilot to get to the canopy, and make a pair of support struts for the TIE to rest on

Now onto the the TIE itself, the detail is amazing, the same level as my recent Y-Wing, with fully detailed interior, and pilot. the instructions said the canopy could be glued open or shut, but as it provided  the necessary components, I made it moveable just for options.

Was really pleased with how this one turned out, I still need to add lenses to the view port, but that's for a day when I'm feeling daring ! LOL Still more to do, but that's a post for another day, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

    1. Thank you misterc, the resin prints are more expensive than the filament ones, but worth it. the platform will work well as the pilots ladder once I've made the stands for the wings.

  4. That thing looks so good Dave! Glad it fits in well with your collection. You've painted it up really nicely too - bravo.
(I'm still hunting about for that TIE Defender 3D print btw - so far, I'm coming up short. But my search continues!)

    1. Thank you Dai, the detail is next level on it, so needed a great paint job to bring it to life, thank you so much for finding it. Don't worry on the TIE Defender, as my next post will show, if I can finish painting it in time that is ! LOL In fact other than some scratch builds I want to do, I'm up to date with my vehicles.

  5. That Interceptor looks great! The stabd just goes to highlight how awkward these fighters are to get into in actuality, but hey it’ll make some great terrain otherwise!

    1. Thank you SD, yes the stand does highlight the problem, I've been checking through the series and movies for how they get round getting in and out, most of the time is a simple ladder that gets pushed into place, or if it's a hanger bay, they have a walkway that runs behind all the TIE's in a line.
