This is my entry for Keith's Dwarvember that he is running on his blog angrypiper as dwarves aren't something that I do a lot of, the only ones in recent years were the one's I did for Miniaturemen's weird wild west range, I wanted to come up with a suitable model for the challenge. I decided on Keith's avatar picture an angry piper, last time I showed the green for it, and I have now finished the painting, I've tried to match Keith's colour scheme as well as I can, so here he is.
Overall happy with how he's turned out, and hope Keith likes it, I very much doubt I will paint any other hairy faced individuals before the end of the month, as some scaly skinned models have been taking up my attention, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
A fun looking little model Dave, with a good paint job, win win I'd say :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Frank, it was a fun model to do, and it was a challenge on the painting, so multiple wins ! LOL
DeleteThe tartan pattern came out looking great, and a great start for the dwarvember challenge!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I was just glad that Keith's avatar didn't have a more complex tartan ! LOL For me this is the start, middle and end for this challenge ! LOL
DeletePainted version is rather charming! Tartan is a pig to paint too, but you've produced a very convincing effort. Great stuff Dave!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dai, it has been a fun little project, and challenging at times (especially the tartan) but glad I gave it a go.
DeleteI am humbled and flattered, Dave. He looks amazing. It's a pity I look nothing like my avatar in real life, but I love both dwarves and bagpipes, and I'd say you've done both very well indeed. Thanks so much for participating, as always.
ReplyDeleteDwarvember is, of course, a challenge and not a contest, but screw that. You've officially won Dwarvember. :)
Thank you Keith, glad you like him, as it would be something you had a vested interest in ! LOL
DeleteI think anybody who clears anything from their lead pile are the real winners ! LOL
It's so fantastic! Really an awesome job from the beginning to the end!! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, it was a challenge, which made it all the more worth it.
DeleteYuuuus!
ReplyDeleteThank you airbornegrove26, it was fun and challenging
DeleteFantastic work on both the sculpting and the painting, Dave!
ReplyDeleteThank you snapfit, the sculpting actually took less time than the painting ! LOL
DeleteAwesome looking dwarf piper, he's great!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, I was especially pleased with the ginger hair, which isn't something I've painted a lot of, and the tartan of course ! LOL

ReplyDeleteExcellent work painting this little guy up! The tartan looks very nice indeed. If he wasn't so short, he'd look like one of your Scottish neighbors, I reckon! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, it's not something I would normally try, so the challenge was great in pushing me harder. He may be vertically challenged but tough as nails ! LOL Funnily enough I had a picture of a Scottish Piper up alongside the avatar picture while I sculpted it ! LOL
DeleteLooks even better now he's painted! :-) Spot on with the colours, Dave!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, as you can imagine Tartan isn't something I paint often, or ginger hair for that matter ! LOL
DeleteSweet job on getting him painted up and completed! Nice resemblance! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian, the tartan is not something I want to paint again in a hurry, but was pleased with the ginger hair.
DeleteDwarvember? That's a challenge I can get behind! (though November is almost always a problem....)
ReplyDeleteGreat looking Angry dwarven piper - the tartan looks great.
Thank you Azazael, I don't have many dwarven models personally, so this was certainly a challenge for me ! LOL Glad I don't paint tartan often, is all I can say ! LOL
