ANY PORT IN A STORM

Not that I would advocate using a tent in any form of apocalypse, but I have finished my new open tent. Colour wise I've gone for yellow, but any colour would work, internally I went for off white, like you see in a real tent.

Above you can also see it next to the closed version, out of the two I probably like the open version more, that's all for this post, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. The yellow tent reminds me of one I used to won in 2000 and consequently took with me to the Reading Rock festival that year, where during a trip to see Slipknot (I think?) someone decided to relieve me of the little umbrella "bit" that covers the breathing mesh at the top so that when I took a drunken snooze and it rained (Of course) I woke in a sodden state! (I then took it upon myself to relieve someone else of their own umbrella "bit", passing the favour on. LOL

Really looks good mate. Probably my fav set of contemporary tents out there.

  2. The tent looks great, Dave, I really like the yellow as at least it means the owner can find it in the middle of a field in the middle of the night LOL! I love the detail work on the sleeping bags too. Great stuff all round!

    1. Thank you Matt, might be a little too noticeable for an apocalypse setting ! LOL Have seen all sorts at festivals, really tall flags, flashing lights to be able to find their tents, all of them managed to annoy their fellow campers ! LOL

  3. Good looking tent, the yellow looks like the same color as you see commonly out camping. Would work for any modern setting too, not just apocalypse.

    1. Thank you SD, wanted to do a common colour you would see, and sound's like I picked the right one, and you're spot on that it would work for a modern setting as well as an apocalypse one.

  4. The mere fact of sculpting a tent is fabulous. There are simply not enough of this kind of everyday items, I love it. Regarding the paintjob, that yellow is fantastic, I love it all!

  5. As I said before, I really like the idea of a tent with sleeping bags and other accoutrements in it. The latest tent looks very realistic as well. This will look great as terrain or in some kind of display.

    1. Thank you Jeff, I really want to do one with a feeding zombie and corpse next, just working out some of the details before starting. Eventually I aim to use them for gaming, just need to do some more bits before I can start.

  7. They are both brilliant mate, if I had to pick a favourite though I'd have to go with the open version, just for the level of detail you've go in there.

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, yes both have there uses, but the open one wins for me too, as techniqualy it's a more complicated piece

  8. They look great and totally appropriate for survival in any apocalypse that requires constant movement through the wilds and features a shortage of fuel.

    1. Thank you Kieron, the idea of doing them came about from some guys who were going around demoing the Walking Dead, and they couldn't find tents in the right scale, and as many of you have said, they have multiple uses, from modern to apocalypse setting, even a Sci-fi camp would work

Very nice, Dave! Both tents are really good but my favourite is the open one! Takes me back to camping on a motorbike tour of Scotland about 40 years ago!

  11. Hi Dave, I've been following a long but not been able to comment for a while, I'm with you on the open tent, but with the night's getting chilly it might be no harm to zip up :)

    1. Thank you Brian, I agree having options is always a bonus, next I want to look at doing some with zombies in them, just to help tell the story further.
