Well this place lacks atmosphere !
This will be my final post on the denizens of the cantina for a while as all I have left to do are some humans, and I'm going to have a break from this area for a while. I do intend to build the cantina itself, but will probably save the bulk of that for this years season of scenery challenge.
First up today is the final two spacemen needed to complete the set of four, to save a bit of time I built one body, took a mould, and cast up the second one I needed and then sculpted both sets of arms. The painting was a very simple scheme to keep in with the original source, but did find a new use for the white contrast paint, as a first highlight on the black visor.
Next up is Chall Bekan, which I showed the similar one in a previous post.
Finally today is Zutton, who is of the same species as Takeel ( also known as snaggletooth to anyone who had the original Palitoy/Kenner action figure) unlike Takeel he was full height and also had a hunchback. This was a complete sculpt as didn't have anything suitable to base him on.
That's all for today, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
more marvellous Cantina denizens, Dave. I especially like Zutton, but the Spacemen are an utter delight too, Corking project and I'm looking forward to his year's season of scenery challenge myself as I'm hoping to get a load of resin terrain done by some company called "Wargames Terrain Workshop" ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, was very pleased with how Zutton turned out, and know how partial you are to the spacemen in the scene.
DeleteLook forward to seeing you clear some of your backlog during the challenge, will have to look this company up, who knows they may have something I want ! LOL

ReplyDeleteTop work as always mate, those spacemen are great, as are the others, I especially like the fact that you did Zutton's hands the same colour as his face (something the film makers apparently didn't bother to do!
ReplyDeleteAnd you I did (and still do I think) have a Snaggletooth figure (I sure he only has three fingers, something else that's wrong that you've put right).
Cheers Roger.
Thank you Roger, it's a lot easier to correct the oversights in model form, and the more I build the more I find ! LOL I guess for the filmmaker it is budget and also how much will you see on screen, but when it's a model, you've got a good chance of someone looking over every mm so you need to make sure it's right
DeleteReally looking forward to when the set is built & their all set up in it, I can even hear the tune in my head Dave, so thanks for that 🙂
ReplyDeleteThank you Frank, I'm certainly looking forward to having this part of the project completed. Sorry about getting the tune stuck in your head, will be there for days now ! LOL
DeleteLove the spacemen, Dave! Zutton is a great sculpt and again it's good to see the minor characters. I agree with Frank,I can't wait to see the built cantina but I've now got that bloody music on a loop in my head :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt, nice to see the end of these characters to be honest, as I've been plugging away at them for a good couple of years now. Just think once the music stops all of a sudden it will be back again ! LOL
DeleteSuch a diverse group to add to the cantina patrons, Zutton, as a scratchuildlook great !
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, I do like a bit of diversity on my projects
DeleteLovely! Those spacemen could also double for a Dr Who game right? In a library, with a nasty "don't let him touch you" undead spaceman baddy? :)
ReplyDeleteThank you dai, your not wrong, they could turn up in so many settings ! LOL
DeleteGreat stuff Dave! So you're going to build the cantina!? Mate, can't wait 😀
ReplyDeleteThank you Ivor, got a lot of planning and scaling to do first, plus what I learned on Ben's house should prove valuable
DeleteLovely set of additional characters, the spacemen in particular are ace!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, as they're pretty generic I could probably change the base model and release them.
DeleteI had the Kenner Snaggletooth, and for a while at least I think he was available by mail only with UPC redemption. I know I had two figures that were mail order and one of them was Bossk...
ReplyDeleteBring on the cantina, Dave. Your stuff is amazing. Please tell me you get to play games with it once in a while...
From what I recall there was two versions available, the standard moave in the UK and then there was a rare blue one, so it may have been that one. In the UK the other you could send away for was Boba Fett.
Deletehopefully this next venture won't disappoint then ! LOL Since the lockdown I haven't done much gaming at all, as I like gaming to be a social thing, I have played a few games of Death Match with the kids, but that's about all. Once we get out of the current situation I'm hoping to get my mates round for a load of gaming
Pretty cool. Those guys, especially the spacemen, look like they ready to step into a '50's B movie.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann, pretty sure that's where the costumes probably came from, as I'm sure I've seen the exact same suit in older movies
