DO YOU KNOW ME ?

It's that time of year again to wish all who visit my little blog a very Merry Christmas, my daughter was going to do me a new Christmas slide of a Santa in PPE dropping presents wherever he could but thought do we really want a reminder of the year we had, so instead I'm using last years, and hope next year is a lot better for all.

The above reference picture is from Yodapedia, and was the main reference sheet I used to find more pictures of each character from in the cantina. The fact that they had the names on each made finding additional pictures a lot easier. All the models on show today are scratch builds as I couldn't find models for them.

First finished model today is Elis Helrot, if you spotted anything of this guy it would have been the back of his head.

Next is Melas, and was only in the special edition, he did get a full screen shot to himself.

Next is Trinto Duaba who was sat in a corner behind other background characters.

Next is Bom Vimdin, who was sat at a table with several other background characters, including this next one.

Pons Limbic was sat at the same table as Bom.

This next one is Leesub Sirin if you did spot her in the film it was probably a rearview of her stood with some spacemen.

This next one isn't on the list above, but is one I found while searching for reference pictures Braconnor Bakiska.

For this next model I've moved outside of the cantina, this character was the one who bought Luke's speeder, personally I wouldn't trust him, too many shifty eyes ! LOL

This next reference picture is for Keith, as in my last post he mentioned the Christmas special and a character that poured a drink into his head, here is said character Krelman.

While I'm mentioning fellow bloggers, Mark is currently running a competition on his blog where you can win some vintage figures, and all you've got to do is guess a date, what could be easier than that !

That's all for this post, apart from a question, what is a film that most people say that's rubbish but you like anyway. For me I have two, Battle Beyond the Stars, and Ice Pirates. Both cheesy but I enjoy them.

Until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Wonderful conversions, but are you becoming alittle obsessed with this project - you have, after all, now moved to the outside characters !
Who'd have thought that there was a "yodapedia"?
Great stuff Dave, hope you and yours have a good yule.

    1. Thank you Joe, it's a culmination of a childhood dream, as I wanted the entire cantina, and Jabba's Palace characters, and for gaming purposes other denizens of Tatooine will add to the experience and diversity. At least in this scale it will take up a lot less space, than the original action figures I started with ! LOL
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Yule

  2. Love them Dave & its always wonderful to see childhood dreams come to pass :)
As for your question, as someone or so I'm told that watches bad movies a list would be long, but two of them would be Hell comes to Frogtown with Rowdy Roddy Peeper, or John Carpenter's Ghost's of Mars :)

    1. Thank you frank, only taken 43 years to realise ! LOL
Love those movies, so we must have similar tastes in movies, did you like Roddy's bigger hit " They Live" which was actually banned in certain theatres in America for being a documentary ! LOL

    2. Indeed I did Dave & its another that would be on the list, good to know I'm not the only one with good taste in bad movies lol

    3. Good to know I'm in great company, the list could be very extensive, with films like the Sword & the Sorcerer as well

  3. I KNEW IT!!!! I haven't seen that Star Wars Christmas special since I was a child; as George Lucas was remarkably thorough in destroying most copies of it. But for some reason, I remember that guy!
    Thanks, Dave. You're the best!

    1. No problem Keith, it was indeed very well buried, but unfortunately for George, the internet is very good at sharing information and media you'd rather they didn't ! LOL the whole show resurfaced a couple of years back and was widely shared on Facebook and Youtube

  4. Some smashing work and research Dave, though I never realised just how "ropey" some of those costumes were! Like the guy Luke sell his speeder too, I mean really! Looking at this post I think the lady in question (from my last comment) was actually the "Mohawk" sporting woman with the big rubber forehead (again really!).

Strangely I was only thinking about "Hell comes to frog town" the other day as Sandahl Bergman was in an episode of "Cheers that was on in the morning. I preferred her in the equally bad "She".

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, if you think some of these guys were ropey, you should have seen some of the stormtrooper shots, they made them for specific amounts of screen time, so the lowest time tended to break really easy and didn't fit together well but were cheap to produce, which is what a lot of filming comes down to budget !
Now "She" is an old one remember it well, would probably fall into classic cheese

    2. Ah I think your thinking of the Ursula Andres version (1963) I'm on about the low budget Sci-fi version 1984.

      Cheers Roger.

    3. I think you must be right Roger, surprised I've missed the remake, may have to see if I can find it

  5. Great stuff Dave! Now you just need Chalmun himself 😀
As for films, I absolutely love the Creature from the Black Lagoon movies, I'm not sure if others think that they are cheesy but oh my days, the second my wife hears that classic music attached to the creature she's sure to come in the room with a roll of the eyes and loud "really, again?" 😂

    1. Thank you Ivor, I've yet to find some decent reference pictures of Chalmun, but I'll keep looking.
Now you are talking classic cheese, most of the younger generation probably haven't watched it, especially as it's in black and white, but great creature feature

    1. Thank you Ann, as I now know not everyone knows all these characters I endeavour to always show a reference shot with them.

  7. Very thorough research and realization of the supporting artists! Are there any left?

I really appreciate this comment as I've been struggling with my hands due to my illness, which has affected my sculpting.
