HE'S JUST A CRAZY OLD MAN

Got another addition for my Star Wars project finished, old Ben Kenobi, as what Tatooine game would be complete without this hermit.

The model is standard except for his clear lightsabre, I've kept the tones closer between the base, mid and highlight for a more natural tone.

Finishing this has prompted my next scenery project his dwelling, found a good reference shot on the internet, now just need to start building.

This last bit is the missing pictures from the community roundup as I hadn't realised Azazel had three more posts to put  up for his entries, so here they are a Stone juggernaut, more plasma conduits, and a mix of terrain crate parts.

That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Obi-Wan now there's a name I've not heard in a long time :) Great looking model & paint job Dave & some fine work from Azazel, looking forward to seen the house, what do you intend to build it from ?

  2. Thank you Frank, so many great quotes that I could have used, almost went with " He's not dead yet, he's me !" Azazel was a machine through the challenge with his quality and output !
Thinking of using foam board for the walls, with a MDF floor, and make the top removable for interior gaming, but early stages yet and may change if bits don't work out

  5. Your not wrong Dai, with all his entries into Jewel of July as well, makes me feel like I spent a whole month asleep ! LOL good job it was about community support to finish off projects.
Glad I was able to make him look right, looking forward to seeing what I can come up with

  6. Nice work on Ben you nailed the colours there.

I never realised old Ben the hermit had such a nice (or big) house, don't know why I but I always pictured it as just the room you see in the film!

Looking forward to your rendition of it now.

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, was pleased with the colours.
The outside shot you see briefly in the film gives no clue to it's size or contents really, and the internal shots focus from one direction, so gives very little detail, so you can imagine how pleased I was to find the detail cutaway diagram, first thing will be to work out the rough size, then the fun can start (by fun I mean mess ! LOL)

  7. Obi-Wan is a very iconic character and a very recognisable sculpt' great paintjob, getting the colours very accurate to the film.
God luck building his home, givne the dearth of information and thanks for the remaining eye-any !

    1. Thank you Joe, the sculpt was very good which made painting easier. need to get the right balance between detail and playable, hopefully shouldn't be too difficult ( famous last words there ! LOL)
No problem on the additional pictures as I wanted to make sure to give credit where credit was due

  8. Great stuff Dave! The pose kind of reminds me of fight with Maul in 'Rebels' 😀
Love those DK cut-away books, give so much extra information and details about stuff you would have never even thought about.

    1. Thank you Ivor, the pose would make sense as they released the Maul figure at the same time, and a lot of Fantasy Flight's models are based off the cartoons more than the live action films, which would make sense as the 3D modelling process is similar with the cartoon and a model.
Have a few of the books, just not one with Ben's house, and your not wrong about all the extra information

    1. Thank you John, was tempted to add a little wash to his beard and moustache, but thought it would muddy the look in this scale.
no problem John, you can ask questions anytime, doesn't have to be based on a particular article, always happy to help if I can
