FEATHERED SERPENT

My recent painting of the Chameleon Skinks has reignited my interest in my Lizardmen army. When I first worked for GW I had a 2000 point Lizardmen army which were all first edition models, then when GW released the second edition models I started updating the models but not all of them, then when I left GW, they sat with zero attention from me, but this new found enthusiasm has seen me working on a lot.

The first model I have completed is this Coatyl, it is an early Citadel miniatures model, that I have had for a long time, I do have a second, but the wings got used a long time ago for something else, so will need to make a set of wings for it.

The colours were inspired by the snake below, and a Macaw's wings.

I also have the much larger Coatyl that I made for my business, so I will use this one as a lesser Coatyl. For anyone that doesn't know a Coatyl is a South American Dragon, and has always been my favourite. You can expect to see a lot more lizardmen to appearing on this blog, but that is all for this time, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

DUDE

This is my entry for Keith's Dwarvember that he is running on his blog angrypiper as dwarves aren't something that I do a lot of, the only ones in recent years were the one's I did for Miniaturemen's weird wild west range, I wanted to come up with a suitable model for the challenge. I decided on Keith's avatar picture an angry piper, last time I showed the green for it, and I have now finished the painting, I've tried to match Keith's colour scheme as well as I can, so here he is.

Overall happy with how he's turned out, and hope Keith likes it, I very much doubt I will paint any other hairy faced individuals before the end of the month, as some scaly skinned models have been taking up my attention, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

WILL YOU BEND DOWN YOU HAIRY BEAST

Another model I had saved for Movember was this 3D print of Chewbacca carrying C-3PO, based off of the scene in the Empire Strikes Back, this was part of the care package that Minaturemen sent to me back when they we were sending their ogres for casting (happy to report that all the casts for their Kickstarter have now been delivered). As you may know if you've been following this blog for a while, I do have a Chewie model, but thought this would be a good way of showing Chewie carrying a damaged robot if needed in gaming terms.

I found the fur detail very shallow on this print, so had to use brush strokes to add more fur detail, happy to have this one now finished. I've also been busy trying to do a contribution for Keith's Dwarvember, you can find out more details on his excellent blog angrypiper now I didn't have any dwarves that needed painting, so I have created one to support his challenge, and I've gone with his avatar from his blog, the angry piper.

From above you can see the picture I've been working from, hopefully I've done it justice, now I just need to get it painted before the end of the month, that's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

WHY SO BLUE

For Roger's Movember challenge I always like to push the boundaries on the hairy face, and this year is no different, as I have a Cobalt Blue Tarantula, which has a very hairy face. I've had this model since the early 90's and was bought on a whim, but since then I had the idea of using it with a skink champion mounted on it for Siege games, as it can climb walls with no penalties and fight at the top also with no penalties. So why did I chose a Cobalt Blue colour scheme from Asia and not a South American colour scheme, because this is my favourite Tarantula, not that I'd ever have a real one in the house, as my wife is terrified of spiders. I've included the reference picture below so you can see how close I've got with the colours (or not ! LOL)

As for a skink champion I'm still looking for something suitable, or will have to make one from scratch, but that is a project for another day, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

APOCALYPSE ME 2023 ROUNDUP

Another challenge over with for another year, and here is the group that kept this challenge going this year

oldschoolworkshop Suber did some fantastic fantasy based zombies, the colour choices were to represent Stirland (a realm in the Empire in Warhammer) but the colours also work really well for the Undead pallet.

kuribospainting Jeff added both scenery and models for his Fallout gaming, some stunning work there.

azazelx Azazel covered multiple subject material, and managed many fantastic looking pieces.

spacedinosaurminis SD got some truly creepy models finished that would scare anyone to death.

cheaphammer Kieron is new to this challenge, but normally takes part in Zomtober, and thought a double win was well worth while, he finished a lot of models from The Walking Dead, and also got some Fallout miniatures finished which count on this challenge.

pmpainting Matt gave a Nurgle Demon that truly looks wet and dripping.

rantingsfromunderthewargamestable Roger got some zombies and survivors finished.

So what did I achieve, very little to be honest, a tanker, and a couple of tents, I promise to do better next year.

All of the above blogs have even more pictures on them so please do check them out. Normally this month would be all about painting things with hairy faces, but due to time constraints Roger will not be running it this year, but I intend to carry on with some hairy faced individuals any rate, also Keith at angrypiper is running Dwarvember where you paint Dwarves, I shall endeavour to get something special done for this, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
