I have now finished the last of the Kroot force that I need, until the new Kroot models are released, with these 3 vulture kindred done, it also clears a bit more space on my desk, which is always a good thing. The wings on these models were all sculpted by me, then painted in my usual colour scheme.
While trying to clear my desk, I've also painted up this Techmarine with servo harness, for my Night Hawks chapter. No conversion on this model, just painting in my regular colour scheme, which has the chest painted in normal Night Hawks colours, and the rest in standard Tech colours, this is to show they are part of their chapter at the core, even if they have dedicated themselves to a certain path.
I've also done a repaint, of this old Techmarine which was converted from an Iron Priest of the Space Wolves chapter.
I'd still like to finish a couple more armies this year which was a personal goal of mine, to finish as many armies as possible this year, so far I've got the Emperor's Children finished, the Demon army done, and I only need to paint 30 mutants, to finish my Lost and the Damned list. That's all for this post, next time I'll hopefully have some more scenery to show, so until then stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Always a good feeling when you clear a side project off the table, so they tell me! 🤣 Lovely work Dave.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael, it may be a bit of a problem, when you have as many side projects as main projects ! LOL If I can keep up the pace, I might actually get a couple more armies finished this year.
DeleteGreat sculpting on those wings, Dave! The vulture kindred look pretty fierce and I do like the idea that they have bayonets on both ends of those rifles :-)
ReplyDeleteMan, Techmarines have got a lot more complicated since my first one, which I think was just holding a spanner LOL!
Thank you Matt, to make life easy I made a couple of templates to speed up the process, yes the Kroot rifle is a fun combat weapon as well as okay in shooting.
DeleteOld school Techs ? was that the one with the big claw on the shoulder pad ? I never got any of those, but have had several of the later versions over the years, really need to find the parts and do something with them ! LOL
Yes, he had that weird claw shoulder pad for some reason. Before that, Techmarines only had a hand symbol on their shoulder pads.
DeleteGW haven't always come up with the best symbols, but at least the old stuff had some varition, now it's just different forms of skulls ! LOL
DeleteCongrats on finishing the Kroot. The other painting is good too. It’s a nice feeling when miniatures that have been WIP on the desk for a lengthy time get done; to make room for the next. 😀
ReplyDeleteThank you Stewart, yes the clearing of the models off the desk is creating quite a bit of space at the moment, until I fill it back up again ! LOL Hopefully I might actually just clear it, and only have one thing on there at a time (Never going to happen ! LOL)
DeleteI like those sculpted wings, sharp addition! The colors look really nice too! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Faust, when GW first showed the idea, they added bat wings, as they evolved from birds, I thought this was more natural, the colours kept the tropical bird theme going.
DeleteAll very nice, Dave, but the Kroot in particular! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you John, I do like my Kroot army, something different.
DeleteExcellent job finishing up the Kroot, Dave! Your goal of finishing up your existing armies sounds like a great one as well. I'll be looking forward to seeing what terrain you've been working on too. You don't have too much longer before the challenge deadline, I reckon!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, just need to wait for the new models and it will be completely finished. Thge armies have sat unfinished for far to long, and once completed means I can focus on the Star Wars stuff all the time ! LOL Trying to finish the boss level on the Imperial building I've already shown, and still got 10 days so you never know maybe something else as well ! LOL
DeleteShame the Kroot photograph doesn't do justice to the work know you put into their wingsw, but they do look stunning as is. The two Tech Marines are such a contrast, one looking busy and mostly machine whilst the other looks very dated (and probably sick of his life).
ReplyDeleteGreat paint jobs on all, as usual, keeping the consistent colur schemes I wold find very difficult.
Thank you Joe, yes still trying to improve my photography, it's an ongoing process ! LOL Yes the techs have evolved over the years, I actually prefer the older ones, as the servo harness is too big for my liking, but they are more easily found.
DeleteConsistent colour schemes can be a pain, so I try to find a colour batch I like painting, and with the Kroot I've varied the tones occasionally, to give a more natural look.
Nice work as always mate, it's always a good feeling to get an army completed (I think, it's been a while since I had it myself!). Lovely work on the wings on your "Vultures", and the tech marines have come out very well, though I still don't really get what they do on an table top army are they like medic's or mechanics?.
ReplyDeleteCheers Roger.
Thank you Roger, it's only complete until the new models come out ! LOL then it will be fully complete. Techs fill the role of mechanic on the battlefield, so if a vehicle is damaged they can attempt to repair it, for instance if you had an immobilised vehicle the tech can attempt to get it moving again.
DeleteAll of them are lovely, but the addition of feathers on the Kroots is really a touch of genius. Cool job all over!
ReplyDeleteThank you suber, it seemed the most logical if the Kroot could fly, why wouldn't their arms become a hybrid of wing and arm ! LOL
