WAMP RATS ROASTING ON A OPEN FIRE

A long time ago I showed a Sand people female and child I sculpted, then the project got completely forgotten about during my move. I cleared through a box the other day and found them again, so thought why not get them painted, and while I was at it, made another 3 and got them painted too.

Above is a scenic group shot to get the atmosphere going.

Above is the first Female I made, and is quite a basic pose, and based on the above reference picture.

This was the child I made and the reference picture it's based on.

This one was based on the above toy that was released with a child in a papoose .

These last two were based on the above screen shot from episode 2 " Attack of the Clones"

That's all for this post, and just leaves me to say I hope you all have a great holiday season, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Flippin love these Dave! Really good additions to your Tatooine collection and great work based off the stills. Now you just need some carved up versions for after Anikin has his hissy fit lol

    1. Thank you Dai, have found a rather nice set of 3D prints of Tusken raiders and hounds on Ebay, which I want to add after Christmas, to finish it off, and also paint up some more huts to really make the whole camp better. Perhaps I need to start producing some body part models for just such an occasion ! LOL

  4. Excellent stuff, Dave, and I have to admit that I've never considered the existence of female or child sand people for some reason. I mean, they have to exist, right? Also, that top pic looks like the Tatooine equivalent of a nativity scene LOL!

    1. Thank you Matt, when they appeared in episode 2, I liked the fact that they had a very different outfit from the males, so had to have some at some point ! LOL Glad you like the Star Wars nativity, hence the title swapped chestnuts for Wamp Rats ! ROFL

    1. Thank you Joe, they didn't come out to bad, resisted putting a manager in, and would stay well clear of producing anything from the Star Wars holiday special ! LOL

  6. Very nicely done, but to be PC these days they like to be called "People of the Sand" 😉

    Cheers Roger.

These are brilliant, Dave! :-) Having said that, the picture of the child you based your model on is a bit scary! Here's hoping you can enjoy a nice break over Christmas!

    3. Cheers mate, my record for sculpting a whole model is 24 hours, to help a customer on their Kickstarter, but I try not to do that too often ! LOL

  11. Many years ago before the prequels when I was a kid, I thought it would be so interesting to learn more about the aliens like Jawas and Tusken Raiders on Tatooine. I don't know if Episode's 2 portrayal of Sand People and the plot point that they killed Anakin's mom was what I had in mind but its what we got! All of this backstory is really just to say that this such a cool idea and project, Dave. The minis came out great and the images of the Tusken camp are really awesome. Inspirational stuff as always! I hope you have had a Merry Christmas as well :)

    1. Thank you Jeff, I think the prequels continued on with the basic premise of the Sandpeople, and it wasn't until the Mandolorian series that they really gained some depth. Glad you liked the models they certainly add another element to the realm.
Had a great Christmas, and hope you did too mate.

    1. Thank you Simon, fell down that particular rabbit hole hard ! LOL Now having watched the book of Fett episode 1, can see other tribes have different women and children and different colour clothing, plus different tents as well, the list is just never ending ! LOL
