I BLAME ROGER !

This Wednesday Roger will be running his weekly WHAT IF ? on his blog rantingsfromunderthewargamestable , over the weeks it has covered all sorts of subjects in a light hearted fun way, but on one of the weeks we discussed TV series we would love to see remade, my two suggestions was Space 1999, and Blake's 7. Both series at one point were scheduled to have remakes done and then never happened.
So for a couple of weeks now my head had latched onto this idea and started coming up with ideas for Blake's 7, and here's where I've got to

First is the Liberation class alien vessel that Blake and the rest of the crew call home, I've moved away from  a man made look and gone for more of an organic feel, it's alien after all !

Next is the Federation system pursuit ship, Hornet class. These only have short range capabilities, a single solar system, but very agile and have a single main gun.

Next is the long range pursuit craft, Tarantula class, has better range capabilities and also two missle pods as well as it's main gun.

Last up today is a Federation Destroyer, Scorpion class, thinking it will have a main cannon and lots of smaller weapons bristling the body
Still a long way to go on these with detailing, then onto crew and ship bridge, but that's a story for another day, WHAT HAVE YOU STARTED ROGER !!!!
Until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave

    1. Thank you Roy, I rewatched Space 1999 back before Xmas and still enjoyed it, series 1 was way better than series 2. the storylines of Blake's 7 are still great just the costumes and effects look dated now.
I do like the prequels Roger Roger ! LOL

  2. Ha ha! it's fatal to talk about anything around here! I love those ships Dave, I have the old Gorgi version of the Liberator around here somewhere, but if you were to put them into production....

I always remember the episode where the Liberator got infected and had mould growing all over it (if you do produce them I'd have to get two and "mucus" one up!).

Best of luck with this new madness, cant wait to see where this one goes (oh by the way the crew would probably work for Forgotten Heroes too!, sorry not helping!!) ;-)

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, I am going to put these into production as I've changed them from the original concepts so shouldn't get in trouble with them.
Wouldn't worry this probably would have happened sooner or later, as ideas have a habit of popping up and I don't know well enough to leave it alone ! LOL
Already got some ideas for the bridge, so watch this space.
Hoping to finish more of my ABC warriors for Forgotten Heroes this year, so these will be more towards making bits that the company can sell as well as playing Blake's 7

  3. You can put me down for these Dave. I'm a huge "Blake's Seven" fan having painted most of the Liberator's crew and loads of Fed Troops in my time. Great inspiration from Roger :-)

    1. Thank you Simon, No problem at all mate. Must admit I was excited when Sci-Fi channel announced in 2013 they were going to do 13 episodes, but then nothing happened. Personally I'd love to see them do more of this type of thing rather than stupid reality TV shows ! LOL

    2. I'm not sure I'd want a reboot of "Blake's Seven", Dave. But definitely another series set in that universe :-)

    3. Can see what you mean, with how some remakes have been done, but some have been great like Battlestar Galactica, so it's a difficult one, but more one way or the other would be good

    4. Have to disagree with you over BSG Dave, I didn't like the re-make far to much in-fighting amongst the humans and everyone had a problem/secret, frankly I was rooting for the Cylons!

"V" was another disappointment and that had Morena Baccarin in and well....nuff said.

I'd love to see more B7 or Space 1999(2099?) but it would have to be done right, and you just know it wouldn't be!

      Cheers Roger.

    5. No problem at all Roger, we all have different opinions, have to agree on V it just never seemed to go anywhere, and Caprica was just awful from start to finish !
I still watch the original BSG and the new as both have elements I enjoy the only one I don't watch is the 1987 series with the flying bikes, wasn't my thing except for one episode, What Happened to Starbuck

    6. Interestingly, both B7 and Space 1999 have returned on audio by "Big Finish" - with the B7 ones being especially good as they use the old cast (whilst they were with us) and simply continued on with their adventures. The Space 1999 one is a reboot/reimagining of the series from scratch and didn't work for me - I have a very clear voice in my head for Commander Koenig - if that makes sense. I too loathed the BSG remake. I watched the first season, and certainly enjoyed parts of it. But it wasn't BSG, imho, and I'd have enjoyed it a whole lot more if they'd called it something else.

    7. I actually got someone at work to download the "What happened to Starbuck" episode and copy it on to DVD, as I hadn't seen it for so long. But no it did all get a bit silly in the last season, when they got to earth.

Especially the "Milky bar kid" they had running the ship!

      Cheers Roger.

    8. Must admit Simon, I don't really listen to audio's very much, really should give them a try.
Season 1 was a bit hit and miss as it got cancelled half way through filming, but then Sci-Fi picked it up and the other seasons improved, when the Pegasus came in that was awesome !
Was the best episode in the whole season Roger, and I never understood the idea behind the Milky Bar Kid either

    9. Roger referring to the infighting amongst the surviving humans has made me remember reading about the survivors fleeing down river after the Black Hole incident in India. Can't remember the details exactly, but from memory, they're going down the river in these large river boats, threat of Indian interference (can't remember if it was conflict or capture) and the British officers and merchants were arguing with each other, via messages, between the boats and oblivious to what was happening beyond their own petty squabbles. I've Jan Dalley's book "The Black Hole", I'll have a reread and see if I'm right, as I plan on watching the reboot BSG series again and having this historic example to mind might add something to my viewing.

  4. I was a big fan of "Blake's Seven", back in the day and I'm so plased now that they never did a re-make.

  6. Try "Forces TV" freeview channel 96, they show Space 1999 quite regularly, "V" is on at the moment, Original BSG comes up now and again and "Buck Rogers in the 25th".

    Cheers Roger.

    2. Not available in North East England region, so possibly not available in other areas of the UK.

Have just done a TV retune and our Freeview goes from channel 95 with a straight jump to channel 100. We have had notification that we're to retune on the 13th, tomorrow, but this is for Channel 4 channels if I remember correctly. Surprised we don't receive Forces TV since I'm on Catterick Garrison.

  7. Cool ships! I'm not familiar with the source material, but I love retro sci-fi stuff. And by all means, blame Roger. Everyone blames him for something, and TBH it's probably his fault.

    3. A while back I was at work and a song I love came on the radio ("yes sir I can boogie", if you must know), so I was jigging about (couldn't call it dancing), "Do you need the toilet Roger?" asked one of my sarcastic co-workers. "Due to my condition I ALWAYS need the toilet, just with varying degree's of desperation!" I replied. Cheeky git!

      Cheers Roger.

Always have multiple projects on the go, so if I get bored on one, I can just jump onto another

  11. Loved Blake's 7,quite liked space 1999,but mainly for the eagles! Great looking ships, I saw the crew painted up in 28mm recently but I don't think they're still being made? I wouldn't mind a remake of either, we cant always live in the past/future!

    1. Thank you Iain, I found both series had a great imagination for the time. Have always wanted to do some spaceship models, and this just gave me the excuse ! LOL
Unfortunately both remakes have currently been shelved, need a Euromillions win, then could finance it myself ! LOL
