NEED A LIFT ?

Firstly I hope all visitors to the blog are safe and well in these awkward times.
Today's post is mainly about dropships but I have a couple of other marine bits snuck in as well.
First up is the Stormraven, it's a bit of an ugly ship but as it's a flyer I wanted to have one in my army. I haven't done any conversion on it other than to make the pilot a normal matine rather than a tech marine

Next up is the Corvus Blackstar, these are meant for the Inquisition, but I really liked the shape so had to have some. The first thing I noticed were how small the model was that matines would really struggle fitting in, so changed my plan and made them a dropship for my scouts. I wasn't keen on the lack of cockpit so fitted a spare one from a Stormtalon and pilot into the front.

For the second one I went completely mad and added a full interior with seating and a scout exiting one of the ramps.

I have also finished building the first of my Landspeeder Tsunami, this is a dedicated tank or large creature hunter with it's twin linked heavy weapon, this one being armed with lascannons, would like to do some with other weapons and like the Tempest is a single man ship.

Lastly today I have finished my first assault Dreadnought complete with custom panel work and scratch built jump pack, going back to the days of Rogue Trader with this one. While painting I was searching the normal places for a name ( latin for birds or areas of the moon) but decided to name him after Bryan, as a fallen hero being entombed into a dreadnought to continue on seemed fitting.

That's all for today, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Some nice conversion work there Dave, but tell me where did you come across the over large jump pack you fitted to the dread ?
Smashing touch naming him Bryan btw, I'm sure he would approve.

    1. Thank you Frank, the jump pack was made with two pen tops a piece of plasticard to get the right basis, 1 mm square plastic strip to make the intakes and a lot of greenstuff.
It felt fitting to name him after Bryan

    1. Thank you Dai, these projects have been sat idle for way too long, and the scout just seemed to show that the scale worked

  3. For someone that isn't 'into' this thsts a lot of very interesting hardware - I'm surprised how 'heavy duty' you've made the various craft appear too.
(Bit OTT on the interior work - but hey, what eye candy !)

    1. Thank you Joe, the trick with the robust look was in the painting.
I know the interior was a bit over the top but needed to practice my interior work ready for a couple of craft I’ve got planned for the business

  4. Looks like your having loads of fun with these Dave. The white ship painted is pretty spectacular in a very understated way.

Bryan the Dreadnought, I think he would like that.

    1. Thank you John, sometimes with the right model, an understated colour scheme makes it look better, I had originally undercoated it black, and it lost of it's shape and definition.
      Immortalised for all time now

    1. Thank you Iain, got a few more flyers to go! Some may say I have too many! lol
Thought it was fitting on the name

  6. Those are some very impressive ship Dave, sadly they are a bit wasted on me as I'm not really up on what they should look like. Did the second on really come without a cockpit?

The landspeeder if that a scratch build on your part or is it a GW actual thing? either wah I like the shape, bit like a futurist Cobra Helicopter.

A very fitting tribute to one of our fallen heroes with the Dreadnought too.

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, should have really posted pictures of a standard GW umodified one as a comparison, and yes the Corvus has no cockpit at all just a solid plastic screen which you paint in a suitable colour.
The speeder was a conversion of the standard model which I made to single seater with closed canopy and weapons mounted in the nose, the back vertical fins are my design as well.
      Felt right to me.

    1. Thank you Roger, I used Will Hayes Tempest as inspiration, just smaller and less guns

  8. Great conversions, the dreadnought looks ace. I have to agree with you on the Gunship, it isn't the best model in the range.

    1. Thank you Wouter, like to put an individual stamp on things, the gunship is a bit of a flying brick ! lol
