CREATURE FEATURE DOUBLE BILL STAR WARS EDITION

Today I have two creatures for Monster May(hem), first is the Correlian Hound I showed in progress earlier in the year, I've been struggling with sculpting recently, but will discuss that at the end, let's just say happy to finally get this off the workbench. Painting wise it's mostly white, but glazed some other colors in to match the reference.

For those expecting the Eopie next, it is finished sculpting, but I haven't had chance to take a mould of it as I want a second one with a rider, and don't fancy sculpting another from scratch, so instead have the second Jerba seen outside the cantina in Mos Eisley, it only gets a couple of seconds screen time in the movie, so can easily be missed, this now completes the three creatures from outside the cantina, painting I tried to match the colors from the reference.

As you may or may not know, I have a long time illness, one of the side effects are ghost sensations, for instance, you can feel like you've broken a rib, when you haven't but you get all the symptoms. For the last three months I've been struggling with my right hand, now the ghost sensations, come and go but this one has been there for the whole three months, and causing me to struggle holding the sculpting tool properly, and paint brushes, so why mention this, well it's been holding me back on work for friends and clients, as I always want to give them my best work, whereas my stuff I'm not so worried about, and I've been trying to find ways to compensate, think I'm just about there, and can hopefully get there stuff finished now, sorry to bring the mood down, normal programming will now resume ! LOL Until Next time, stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

    1. Thank you Iain, very happy to get these finished. Been exercising it every day, to improve the muscle strength, I'm slowly getting the control back, and hopefully won't be long before I can get full control back.

  2. The Hound is my fav here! Spot on likeness from Solo (My fav SW flick). Will there be any more to join him in the future? (Once your pains subside, of course)

You and your ailments... Am always impressed with your hobby output and attitude on life in general through all that crap mate. Here's hoping the hand thing leaves you soon so regular hobbying for you AND your clients can resume shortly.

    1. Thank you Dai, had a feeling you would like the hound, already got a Moloch, and might do a Lady Poxima at some point.
I don't like to bring the mood down, so don't mention it most of the time, but as this current problem is slowing me down, thought it best to get ahead of it so no one worried if it slows me down further ! LOL

  5. I'm sorry to hear about the health issues, Dave. You've got the right attitude about it and hopefully things will improve for you soon. In terms of the latest minis, you're really going deep into the background of Star Wars now! Both of these creatures look great and will add some nice variety to your collection. I will look forward to that Eopie as those are a creature I'm even more familiar with!

    1. Thank you Jeff, since last year I've gone from a post every three days, to two a week, and now down to one every six days, and wanted to let everyone know why, so if it gets less it doesn't raise alarm bells ! To be honest with how many times we go back to Tatooine, I'm surprised we haven't seen a Jerba farm yet, as that was a large form of honest commerce for the planet, The hounds have been seen in several places since, and become more mainstay, hopefully yo wont have to wait too long for the Eopie.

  6. Your timing on posting less has blended in with some people no longer blogging and others blogging less. Overall, I think the wargaming blogosphere has gotten quieter over the last year which is a shame in some ways as I enjoy being a part of it and would hate to see it go away.

A Jerba farm would be a great idea. It did take us a long time to actually see a Krayt Dragon (unless I'm forgetting something) so things move a little slow sometimes in a galaxy far, far away!

    1. Indeed that is very true, I don't want to stop blogging, and will continue to support the blogs I follow as much as possible.
Well there was the young Krayt skeleton in the first film, but to get a live one did indeed take a very long time, even longer was a Mythosaur, and we've only had glimpses so far of that, so I suppose there is still hope for a Jerba farm at some point

  7. These look awesome. Well done.
The random background 'stuff' has always impressed me with the Star Wars franchise, and you're nicely modelling them. You must be running out of critters to sculpt :)

    1. Thank you misterc, I've always thought that great sci-fi isn't just about alien creatures trying to eat the heroes or villains, but about everything that would help make up an eco system, so beasts of burden, herbivores that predators would eat, the whole lot, and I always felt Star Wars did that well, and several other franchises could learn from that ! LOL

  8. Nice work, Dave - sorry to hear about your hand. Perhaps you should start stockpiling a bunch of cast sculpted bodypart sections for your Star Wars beasts (and your GW ones!) to create a library of heads and tails and claws and such to make things quicker and easier to create a veritable horde of unique creatures!

    1. Thank you Azazael, that's actually a pretty good idea especially the heads as the faces take the longest to build, I'm doing that with the Eopie, as I want some with riders, and the baggage and riders will make them look different.

  9. Very cool creatures Dave, both the sculpting and painting are on point!
Sorry to hear about your illness, I hope the ghost sensations in your hand will vanish soon.

    1. Thank you snapfit, been on my radar, and the workbench for far too long, so glad to finally get them finished.
Waiting for a Doctors appointment to see if it's anything more than ghost sensations, and exercising it every day to help combat it.

I'm in catch-up mode again and a bit behind! Those are really nice beasties, Dave! :-) Both look really good! Hope your hand improves - I like Azazel's suggestion about building up stock parts!

    1. Thank you John, will have an update on my hand in my next post, these are some of those creatures that get overlooked, so wanted to bring them into the sun, for their time to shine.
