Or should that read slow day ! LOL We had roughly two inches of snow on Saturday, but 24 hours later it was all gone due to the rain, so not too much disruption. Haven't got anything more done for my challenge as I am busy sorting orders and working on commission stuff, first of which are these three Woolly Rhino, it seams to be a family group, to me, have to say that the 3D printed fur didn't lend itself to drybrushing, so had to paint the strands individually.
Next is a very simple basing exercise, of adding larger more stable bases to some bottle brush fir trees, client wanted snow bases for these.
Last today is a treasure hoard, the print on the money was quite shallow, so had to paint where I thought the coins would be.
Still got a lot more to do for this commission, and several scratchbuilds to finish as well, so expect to see more from this in the future, hopefully I can fit in some of my stuff as well, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave
I think the fur came out better with the individual strands painted, gives it a painterly look! the trees and treasure are good too!
ReplyDeleteThank you SD, it certainly took a lot longer this way ! LOL At least I was able to do something thaat looked good for my client.
DeleteAll very nice, Dave! :-) I do like the rhinos!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, theyt are growing on me now they are finished, didn't like them much while painting ! LOL
DeleteO I like those rhinos! How large are they compared to an average 28mm fig?
ReplyDeleteThank you Dai, the large one's are 60 mm in length, so about 2 and a quarter inches, so not a bad size, and would work well for true 28 mm, a bit small for heroic or other scales
DeleteGreat to see the commission business is keeping you busy, Dave. I don't know how you do it though, as I keep almost everything I paint as I simply can't part with it - even if I know I won't be using the models in a game. LOL!!! I think the coins are especially well done, especially if you're the one who has created the illusion of a horde as opposed to the 3D print.
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, I used to find it hard to part with something I painted, but these days it's more about having a variety of things to paint, that I wouldn't normally, without having to worry about storage ! LOL Plus I really like the knowledge that I'm increasing someone else's enjoyment of their hobby. The top coins are part of the sculpt detail but the bottom level was all created by brush, which helps trick the eye.
