RIOT SQUAD

If you are expecting Ruby, Liv, and Sarah you'll be disappointed as these have TK  numbers, as it's the new Star Wars Legion Imperial riot control squad. It has multiple members the first 3 are the sergeant with sniper rifle and two troopers with blaster and shield.

The next two have energy batons and shields.

The last two to round out the squad are K series enforcer droids.

This is one of the first kits I've got made from Atomic Mass hard plastic, and I'm not a huge fan, they are a pain to glue, as they don't take plastic glue ( mind you the previous ones didn't either) the plastic is very brittle and doesn't carve well, and my last complaint is the lack of detail compared to the older models, especially the enforcer droids, as I have the K2SO model to compare it to, and the detail is sorely lacking, but at least these are now finished, that's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

    1. Thank you DAM, hoping they do some more rocket troopers at some point.

  2. You pulled off the dirty white look very well! Shame to hear about the AMG plastic issues, makes me wonder if they did continue with X-Wing and Armada what the quality drop would have been there.

    1. Thank you SD, it took a while to find the recipe I liked, so glad it looks right now. Have to hope it improves over time, as I've got problems with a couple of the other kits I got, but will explain more when I show them.

  3. For all their negative points that you've listed, they look flippin cool Dave and any soft detail is not apparent at all.

    1. Thank you Dai, really had to push the painting to cover up the lack of detail, guess I'm just becoming a lazy painter ! LOL

  4. I was about to ask whether these were official Star Wars Legion kits, and clearly your last paragraph makes it clear that rather disappointingly they are. Still, despite all the issues with gluing, cleaning up and painting, they look grand Dave. And might be a set I pick up in the future, tbh.

    1. Thank you Simon, they are indeed the official set, I'm hoping it's just an early blip, and the quality comes back up on future kits, or I'll need to invest in a 3D printer ! LOL One word of advice, if you do get a set, is paint the stormtroopers without the shields on, to make it easier to get paint in all the places.

  5. Lovely finish, even if they were a pain to paint!

  6. Despite the issues you mentioned these look great.
I'm assuming these Legion minis are larger than the WotC stuff I collected?

    1. Thank you misterc, I guess you get used to a certain quality, then when it changes, you realise what you are missing ! LOL
They are indeed larger than the WOTC ones, the old Imperial Assault miniatures were very close in scale, except some of the characters which were more Legion scale, and don'[t get me started on Shatterpoint ! LOL

They've come out well, Dave, and good variation in the squad overall! :-) Personally I'd have thought that The Empire would probably not adopt a less-than-lethal approach to riot control and thus ditch the shields and keep the blasters! ;-) Funnily enough I'm not a great fan of plastic figures that require assembly, since they tend to go over the top with the parts count in my experience. Like you, though, I do find plastic glue easier to use with them than superglue (gives you bit wiggle room)!

    1. Thank you John, I take it by that comment, you haven't watched Andor yet, so you've got that to look forward to, Sometimes they start with shields but if the citizens don't comply they are more than happy to turn to blasters. When it comes to models I'm happy with metal, resin, or plastic, as long as the quality is there, and totally agree on having that wiggle room ! LOL

You're right, not got to Andor yet but it's in my watchlist!

  8. Impressive work on minis that were tough to assemble. Gotta say I am wedded to metal for just that reason (plus I am too set im my ways!)

    1. Thank you Mark, happy with the end result, I guess where I was working for GW when the major shift from metal to plastic happened I got used to it quickly, and also my early introduction into resin with Forgeworld ! LOL

  9. Well, what you say about the minis is a bummer, but your work on them looks totally ace!
