Carrying on with my clients commission, has given me a wide scope of pieces to work on, first is a prison wagon, which was a 3D print.
Next is a barrel on a wagon, which is also a 3D print.
Next more barrels, that are also 3D prints.
More 3D prints with these candelabra, but I made the flagstone bases.
Something you don't see often is 3D printed lumber, some in blocks and some individual pieces as well.
Here is another tree that I've based for my client
Something a bit more interesting are these four Cobra's, which are also 3D prints.
To finish off we have a 3D print crocodile.
That's all for today, more commission stuff to come, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave
So many different things and I like them all (Especially the lumber - coffee stirrers?). Must be fun working on such a jumble of projects and not getting bored with any certain one.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dai, they do say variety is the spice of life ! LOL The lumber and individual planks are all 3D prints, so had to hide the texture with the colours used, which seems to have worked ! LOL
DeleteCool! I find the cage wagon particularly appealing, but I have to say that your work on the crocodile is stunning! Fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, had plenty of references from all the fantasy movies I've watched, the one that sprang to mind was Solomon Kane. Lot's of glazes on the crocodile to try to get the natural tones to it.
DeleteThey all look great. I really like the prison wagon. I don't think I'd have a use for it, but the wagon and the cage separately would certainly be handy.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tarmor, the two pieces are separate when the kit arrives, so that would be achievable.
DeleteAll very nice, Dave! :-) My favourites are the crocodile and the water cart (really like the wood on that)! I've got 3D-printed logs and lumber - very handy for scatter terrain around farms!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, the wood texture eas there in areas but lacking in others, so had to change the strength of the drybrushing to compensate. As I do mostly Sci-Fi gaming, it wasn't anything I would have thought of doing, so great exercise for me to broaden my horizons ! LOL
DeleteThat prison wagon looks like its come straight off of the Planet of the Apes film lot, Dave. What an awesome 3D print. Really enjoying these commission posts - lots to see and admire with the different painting subjects.
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, indeed it fits with so many films, it could be very useful. It is nice to paint things that wouldn't normally be on my schedule, and let's me try out different painting methods.
DeleteI could just about copy and paste the first part of my comment on your previous post. There is an awful lot of diversity in what you painted up here. Variety always helps me keep our hobby interesting so I can appreciate it from that stand point.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great but I think the lumber might be your best work. Although I say that and I think that Croc looks ready to wrestle Steve Irwin himself so maybe he or she is the star of this update after all haha!
Thank you Jeff, afraid the next one you won't be able to use the copy and paste method, even though it's very different ! LOL I find if it's something I want or need to paint for my stuff, it's not too much of a problem, but the commissions really give me opportunities to paint something totally different, and try out new things.
DeleteThe lumber turned out better than expected, especially covering up the print lines, and I always enjoy painting animals and trying to match their colour schemes, it really pushes the painting level I find.
Wonderful work, Dave. The skin of the crocodile and the patterns on the cobras are especially arresting -- it's so hard to get those natural patterns to come off well. And like all the other commentators, my eyes widened at the prison cart -- such a thoroughly useful piece for innumerable games and eras. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you Matthew, it's something I'm always experimenting with to get a natural feel to creatures this one was achieved mostly with glazes, several brown and there is even a green one in there as well. Indeed it has so many uses, I think most people could find a use for it.
DeleteFantastic work, the cobras and crocodile look very lifelike! I also like the scenery, seems like there's nothing that can't be 3D printed nowadays, haha
ReplyDeleteThank you snapfit, always trying to improve my creature painting to make them more realistic, and your not wrong on the 3D printing ! LOL
DeleteAn eclectic mix of minis and terrain, fun to always have a different thing to paint!
ReplyDeleteThank you SD, I do enjoy getting commissions like this as it gives me opportunities to try new things, I would be happy just painting my Stare Wars project all the time, but I'd run out of models pretty quick ! LOL
