WANTED

The other night I was sat watching the film Wanted, starring James McAvoy. During the movie he googles his name and gets zero matches in the results. As I have seen the movie several times, I wasn't paying a 100 % attention, and thought why not have a go with my name.

One of the first results I found was in the original Star Wars movie one of the rebel pilots was played by David Stone, pictured above.

I also found a British sci-fi writer who writes both novels and comics, an American comedian, I also know of a Dave Stone who was an artist at Games Workshop, this all seemed ironic, with my love of all the subject material above ! LOL

As I continued down, I found an actor/ producer in America, while reading through his films, I saw he was credited with being in Strontium Dog a fan film. Now long time followers know that the Dave Stone in that movie is me ! The following day I tried to get in touch with IMDB to point out the oversight, first step was I had to register, to be able to contact them, at least they did a free 30 day trial. Once I got my account, I found a contact email and sent in the discrepancy, the long of it is as I don't have a page, as I'm never likely to be in another movie, they did nothing ! To say I'm disappointed with the result would be an understatement, but that's showbiz I guess !

me before they put the mask on !

For anyone who has never seen the film here is a link Search Destroy, it has won multiple awards, and was made by the two Steve's who are film makers. If you enjoy that you may also like their other fan film Judge Minty both films were welcomed by Rebellion, who produce 2000 ad the comic that the storylines are based on.

At the end of the day it was a great experience at the shoot, and one I will treasure always, as for a Hollywood star accepting credit for something he didn't do is pretty low in my books !

Next time I promise normal service will return, and back to more important things, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Well that’s bollocks isn’t it? Wonder if us plebs can send in emails of complaint in support of your cause?
I am familiar with the excellent Judge Minty film and even backed it when they were drumming up funds originally. (Still have a resin fig of Minty to paint up along with a signed postcard of the Lead actor in his Judges uniform somewhere) Wasn’t aware they’d filmed a SD movie tho and to find out you were in it!? I’ll be clicking that link for sure, tho a little later this morning when the ladies of the house are awake so as not to disturb them!

    1. Indeed Dai ! LOL To be honest mate, I'm just going to move past it, and I know it was me. The resin model of Minty was awesome, have mine all painted up, got to meet the man who played Minty, as he played the Colonel in SD and that was the scene I was in with him and also Johnny Alpha. There attention to detail in both movies was excellent, and so many easter eggs for fans, that they included.
Hope you enjoy the movie mate, and probably best to not wake the ladies of the house, and congratulations mate.

    2. Just watched her film! Liked it! Wouldn’t have been so good if it hadn’t been for your fine performance as that lava rock face fellow!

    3. Thank you Dai, isn't auto correct fun ! LOL I did get a great compliment from the actor who played Johnny, that I gave him some great resistance, which made the performance easier !

    4. A long time ago I was in a low budget black and white flick playing a hit man. Even had a sex scene!
Not all that exciting but the producer liked my drunken arse enough to have me costar in his following music video.

No IMDb mentions for me tho and I can’t find either video mentioned there as well. Fame is fleeting and subjective it seems lol

  2. Blimey, Dave, that's a long a storied career! As far as IMDB goes, according to google: "Pages on the desktop version of IMDb feature an "Edit Page" button near the bottom (data cannot be contributed via the IMDb mobile website or IMDb App). To add information or to correct existing information, you just need to click the button and follow the instructions on the following pages."

I'm off to watch those two movies!

    1. Hope you enjoy the movies Matt, through the contact with IMDB they couldn't do anything as I didn't have a page on IMDB, and at $20 a month I financially couldn't see the point of having one ! LOL

  5. At last, I know a film star !
Well, that may be somewhat of an exaggeration and we havenn't met, but I'll still use it in my list of known 'celebs'.
Formy part I've beenan extra in a film (Comrade Jacob) and a french film/docmentary about the Battle of Naseby - the latter may still be available on you tube, but you won't seeme (fourth man behind the flag !).
I've also appeared on TV and featured in newspapers many times - but I'm still not famous !

    1. Thank you Joe, I'm afraid I'd be a negative Z lister on a list of celebs ! LOL Very cool mate that you got to be part of so many different things, I know what you mean, it seems unless your a reality TV star it doesn't count, but for me that is the lowest form of entertainment ! LOL

  6. Wow I never realised I was a follow of an A listed Hollywood star Dave 😉 but joking apart, it's never nice when someone is claiming credit for somebody else's work.
I'll have to give the movie a watch when I return home & if your acting is up to speed might sign you up for an N&D production 😊

    1. I think your thinking of the other end of the alphabet Frank ! LOL Hope you enjoy it when you get back, and being part of a N&D production, could only improve my ranking !

  7. Imdb often get things wrong, I doubt if your namesake has pinched your credit, it's more likely it's been misasigned by Imdb, nice photo though!

    1. Very true Iain, to be honest I've never really looked on IMDB before, so wouldn't know their level of mistakes.
Was definitely having a bad hair day ! LOL

  8. Haha great stuff, I've never googled my name, but I remember years ago seeing that the theme tune to the "Gentle Touch" (remember that with Jill Gascoigne?) was written by "Roger Webb", but that's it though, no real claim to fame. At least I don't need to worry about any in-famous actors taking credit for my staring roles! 😉

Will have to check out those movies.

    Cheers Roger.

  9. Fingers crossed that they'll cast you for a role in another Judge Dredd reboot! I had no idea you were an esteemed actor. It is a cool thing to say as I suspect many people are like me and don't really have much to their name if someone Google'd it.

    1. Judge Dredd is currently moving to a TV series, called Mega City One, where it will explore more about the citizens, and crazes but the judges will be there, Karl Urban has signed on to carry on the role of Judge Dredd, but wont be in all the episodes. All the SD cast were invited to submit their names, so we will just have to wait and see.
I wouldn't worry, as we all know you as a outstanding figure painter mate.

  10. My word, I didn't know you were so famous! I've seen and enjoyed both of those fan films.

Bit of a bummer about IMDB not crediting you. Have they removed the credit from t'other Dave Stone though?

    1. I wish I could claim credit for the top part of the list, as that would be a great carer resume ! LOL I just happened to see a call for help at the right time, and fitted the size criteria, must by 5'11" and free on the given date, otherwise I'd have missed out.
IMDB, would not remove the credit without an alternative page to link to, which is probably the most annoying part !

  11. Aww what a shame they wouldn't correct it. Will have to check out those movies. I have seen the Judge Minty one but will watch it again anyway.
