GET AWAY FROM HER YOU BITCH !

Another large scale model has been completed, this one I had to finish building first and also needed modifying to get the hands to fit properly. all the bits so far were paintedas I didn't use the transfers for the hazard markings. Still need to put on the transfers for the warning symbols, but at least it's in full colour and not sat in a box now.

Next time I will have the SBS of doing marble for Dai, and something else, not sure what yet. Have also made our rulset available for free in PDF form to help relieve the boredom during the lockdown if anyone wants a set simply email me at wargamesterrainworkshop@yahoo.co.uk and I'll send you a set.
Until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. That looks blooming well brilliant Dave. Love the bared metal detail on the forks and legs and cage, and the hydraulic hoses.
I read the Alan Dean Foster books for Alien and Aliens the other month, and they give a little more detail about Ripley's training and job as a power loader operator during the few months while she was out of favour before the mission to Acheron.

    1. Thank you Roy, this poor model has sat in a box being very unloved for many years ! The shame of it.
Sounds like some books I may need to check out, as even in the extended version of the film this section of time was very poorly covered

    2. There isn't too much additional information from what is seen in the films. From memory there is only a few lines mentioning the period of time and the low-income work. ADF's writing style is very sparing of detail and precise, but they're still readable - certainly worth a cheap second-hand copy or lending from a library.

If you hadn't seen, I think I misinterpreted your comment on my blog, initially, and have edited the post twice, now, with some image projections on the WIP.

    3. With the lockdown something new to read would be good regardless, will look out for a copy.
      Will have a check mate

  2. Great looking model, lovely finish, saw the film relatively recently in a tiny cinema, it was great fun!

    1. Thank you Iain, is one of several films I watch on a regular basis, although I wish I could have seen the extended version on the big screen not just the cinematic release

  3. Those tubes alone would have driven me barking mad, Dave, so well done on painting the model as well - super yellow btw. I only watched "Alien" The Directors Cut yesterday spookily. Now I need to watch its sequel.

    1. Thank you Simon, thankfully the pipes come in the right colour, but trying to straighten them out and stick them in the relevant place was not so easy.
Aliens is my favourite movie out of the series but enjoy 2 of the other 3 as well

  4. Nice work as always Dave, I remember that model from years ago a mate of mine from work built it when it first came out and ran tiny lights buried in the "cage" to light up Ripley's face and had the light flashing in the top too. (His painting wasn't as good as your though (don't tell him that though) ;)

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, you found the reason it had sat in the box for so many years, as I had the same idea but didn’t have the relevant lights, in the end I went for finished was better than one day I’ll get round to that ! lol
Don’t worry you’re secrets safe with me

  5. Ripley looks suitably pissed, so cool! Does she scale well with the Alien you posted previously?

    1. Thank you Dai, it’s easier to show the emotion in these larger scale models.
Sadly she doesn’t scale with the alien I had previously shown, but does scale with the alien queen I have

  6. That looks great Dave, I was going to ask about the scale but see in the comments that its already covered, where you do the queen you'll have to set up the two for a picture :)

    1. Thank you Frank, hopefully I can build a display base for the two of them, which is what the initial intention was

  7. Oh my goodness, that's an incredible kit Dave. Not sure I would have the patience for that one.

    1. Thank you Michael, most of the kit was pretty straight forward, the tricky parts were the tubes ( the air was rather blue while putting these on) and getting Ripley's hands and buckle straps to fit ( lots of greenstuff swearing here) which had to be done once she was painted as well as the loader separately
