Have managed to make a bit of progress on a couple of my current projects, firstly is a couple more steps on the rebel transporter
As you can see in this first picture I've been filing the holes from the original push fit internals.
Next I ground off the edges around the rim.
Then using plasticard I added in the edges to bring it more inline with the reference picture. The next step requires some filler work, which I need to pick up as I've used up all I had on the house before Xmas.
I have found my coloured plastic rod so have now added all the lightsabre glows on my chess set.
I also found some statues I've had for years, they were in packs of Frosties when episode 1 of Star Wars came out, I'd always intended to paint them, just never got around to it. Now I know these have no gaming purpose but gave me a good chance of practising some different techniques that I don't use very often. I'll show the rest when they're finished but was pleased with how these two turned out.
That's all for this post, so until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave
Looking good
ReplyDeleteThank you, it's been good finding tools and parts to make it easier ! LOL
DeleteGreat stuff, Dave. The rods in particular truly set off your Star Wars models!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, yes glad I finally found them, still a lot more stuff to find though ! LOL
DeleteGood work on the transporter and nice sabres!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, can see the transporter taking a while but think it will be worth it, was great to finish off the sabres
DeleteFinally, lightsabers that are lit! LOL Looks far better with them mate!
ReplyDeleteThe transport is coming along just loverly.
imo you might as well bin Binks and Nass.... so bad.
Thank you Dai, took a while to find the rods but was well worth it.
DeleteWant to start making the internals next on the transport as the externals will take some time.
Know what you mean about the characters, but we’re the most challenging to paint to get the skin tones and patterning right ! lol
Loving all this Dave, keep going Sir.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael, when you get chance to start on your transporter, if you need any more detail just ask mate
DeleteGreat idea using these busts for practice.
ReplyDeleteEverything's looking great, but I'm especially interested in seeing where you're going with this transport ship.
Thank you wouter, tried to think of a use for them as scenery but couldn’t come up with anything, so a practice piece was better than nothing.
DeleteThe easiest option for the transport would have been just to paint it, but my ocd would have kept me up at night ! lol using Frank’s idea I should be able to game inside while outside should look very close to the reference picture
A fine bit of work Dave.
ReplyDeleteThank you Frank, trying to balance sorting through boxes and still creating at the same time
DeleteHi Dave
ReplyDeleteJust catching up, the light sabres look great, they really set off the figures well. That ship is a big beast and no mistake, good that you will be able to use it internally.
Cheers
Thank you John, and great to hear from you. The lightsabres do add an extra element, and they really needed replacing as the soft plastic had bent in all sorts of shapes. Yes the ship has a large footprint which would be a large loss of gaming space if I didn't use the inside
DeleteThat's one big model to tackle and no doubt will look great when finished; liking your take on the light sabres too !
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, the real fun will start when I start painting it, but that will be a while off. What I'd really like to do for the lightsabres, is cast them with a white pin up the middle to give a really authentic look, but a lot of work for such a small element
DeleteDiversified and superb, lovely light sabres!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil, tried to keep to at one least theme Star Wars, which still gave me a lot of scope to diversify ! LOL
